Bio and Links
Bio Photo When I started researching my family history in 2009, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I have found that this is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding activities. I love that "AH-HA!!!" moment when you stumble across a headstone that you were looking for but didn't know exactly where it was, the death certificate that you accidentally find, and gettinng to know who you are by learning where you came from. Family names that I am currently researching: Jackson (obviously), Lemons, Moore, Yount, Gilliland, Talley, Long, Killian, Abernathy, Fulbright, Mayfield, Rhodes, Williams, Sitze & Watson. If any of these cross your own genealogical path....let me know, maybe we can help each other out.I don't mind transferring memorials as long as they are of closer kin to you than they are to me. I also don't really care how you request the transfer...whatever is easiest for you, just don't forget the name of the person(s), their memorial number(s) and your own contributor ID.Thanks to all that have and continue to transfer my family to me. It is very much appreciated!!!

Hello, I just posted a photo of the headstone for LAURA HARGENS. I just wanted to let you know that your dates are just a little off.
Please let me know if you would like me to remove the photo.

I sent some updates to Berrong to your Grandpa this week. Are you taking pictures at Berrong? I can send you the Berrong map electronically.

Okay, we can scratch part of my theory on the earlier message :) I still think Martha Abernathy was not Martha E.'s mother due to the birth/marriage dates; however, I don't think the James and Margaret Jackson I found in the 1860 census is our James Jackson because I found him and Martha in the 1870 census with several children. And the quest continues... Don't we just love it?!

Martha E Jackson Memorial# 54751378
Hello and thank you for all of the contributions you've made to Find A Grave!! It's people like you that allow us to find those missing pieces or pay tribute to our loved ones who are buried far away.

I suspect that Martha Abernathy was not Martha E's birth mother. Martha E was born in Jan 1870; James Jackson married Martha Abernathy the following April. I believe that Martha E's birth mother may be the Margaret b. 1829 in Ohio that appears with James in the 1860 census, and that she likely died in childbirth, hence the reason James remarried so quickly. Just a theory, but either way, it was not common in those days for the baby to be born prior to the marriage. Times have indeed changed and future genealogists will have their work cut out for them, hey?

Best regards,

RE: The Porter Puzzle
Well Erin this is a mystery. I called the Russell Heights cemetery office which is at the court house (I think) in Jackson and she could not give me that information over the phone and suggested I drive out there. It will be a while before I can get over there - could you go? How strange that Walter and Virginia Porter are listed at both R.H. and Cape County memorial. I know for sure they are at Cape County and took the pictures yesterday. Why would they be at both places? Strange. Please let me know ok? thanks Ruth

Walter and Virginia Porter
Erin: I have a new mystery for you. I just got back from Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery half way between Cape and Jackson because someone had requested a picture of the grave of Walter Porter. in order to find where it is located in that huge cemetery, I have to go to the Archives in Jackson. Their records show both Walter and Virginia Porter are buried at Cape County Memorial Park cemetery and I took pictures of them. Yet they are also at the cemetery in Jackson and you have pictures of graves for both of them. How can this be? I went ahead and added Virginia Porter to Cape County and put their pictures on but let me know what you think?? Thanks. Ruth Smith

RE: Alice Maze
Erin: You are welcome. You are correct that there is no grave marker for Alica Maze. I should have indicated that on her page so added that . In "row walking" as they call it one can sometimes miss a grave but hopefully all of the graves at Fairmount with stones have been photographed. Ruth
