|Carole Elizabeth Nurmi Cummings # 47178231||Well HELLO there Cousin!|
So thrilled to find a cousin!
I have a good friend in Rockland County, New York, Regina Haring, who is sending me the Budke Collection to input on line. As I go along, I am linking the families together.
So excited to meet you!
I wanted to add information on all of the memorials as I input them...such as baptismal, marriage and the such.
It does take a bit of time, but I thought the info would be invaluable for others looking for these folks!
Lovely seeing you here!
Do you know anyone who has the power to merge these so that we don't have to redo the bios and the info.
I might have to ask findagrave to see if they could merge them without losing the bios in them.
Thanks again my new good friend!
|Carole Elizabeth Nurmi Cummings # 47178231||Hi there Norma|
If you would add the information from each of my memorials to the bio and inscription section and add the links that would save me the time.
Take a look at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=dem&GSfn=mar&GSmid=47178231&GRid=127707944&
Do a copy and paste to your memorials and add the links from the children to the parents.
Thanks ever so much for helping me sort this out.
Hugs of appreciation sent you way!

You are welcome.

Regarding Oakwood, they might have a record with dates for Nathaniel that would clarify which one he is. The FHL reel sounds like it's of the Troy Burial Records; if it said Old Mount Ida, that's somewhat ambiguous. Old Mount Ida was a burying ground at the foot of Cypress St; Mount Ida on Pawling Avenue over time became referred to as Old Mount Ida even though that's not its official name.
John Converse at "Old" Mount Ida on Pawling incidentally would seem to be a reinterment because he died in 1831 and the Pawling Ave cemetery wasn't purchased until January 1832 and wasn't surveyed and apparently not laid out until October 1832.

I had not noticed another Converse stone near John Converse's monument. His inscription is so worn, I wouldn't exclude the possibility that one of the seemingly blank sides had an inscription for other family members. There's also a lot of buried headstones in the cemetery.
Are you sure your Nathaniel Converse is buried in Oakwood cemetery? It wasn't established until 1848 so if he's there he'd have to be a reinterment from somewhere else. Are you sure Abigail Lawrence Converse is buried in Old Mt. Ida Cemetery? The DAR in their 1923 survey don't seem to have recorded a stone for her http://www.onentofl.com/tcsnyrenTROYmida3.html

Glad you figured it out. I'm not related although I have Converse ancestors. I just added the gate shot for Wales #1, which goes automatically to all the entries in that cemetery.

Yes indeed...I do plan on linking all of the children together to her. I do find that info is nice to have for folks who trying to figure out where all of the family is buried.
Did I send you the part I typed out with all of the other children. Am working on that entire family from the Budke Collection.
Will work on that cemetery using Budke's transcriptions as I go along.
Only wish they were online. Crazy to have that collection downtown New York City in the Rare Books collection.
I do want to eventually get all that he has online...but as I go I verify to see if the transcriptions make sense. Have found several errors.
Do hope this finds you doing well!

I was at Old Town Cemetery today, and did not see this grave. A number of the markers have been obscured by weather (or lost). If you can obtain a map or location from the cemetery, I would be happy to go back and photograph whatever is there.

Ah, that is good news! :)
I'm always happy when I find a grave with a photo request.
