I got hook on genealogy after talking to my Grandfather (George E. Deskins) about the "Good Old Days" and how he had a story about everyone and everything. I started by researching only my immediate family but it has escalated to years of research, meeting wonderful people, hearing amazing stories and with much help from other dedicated researchers. After joining FAG it keeps getting better and better.
I hope that all of realize that we all are related and should treat everyone the way we want to be treated.
My main research is on all the Deskin, Deskins and Deskines lines, but I also do Jackson and Matney
This wonderful tool of FAG is out of this world, I want to thank all the fabulous people that have help me in so many ways. I would not of had the opportunity to meet many of my relatives, as well as others if not for FAG. There is no way I can ever thank many of you, researcher before me, people willing to share info as well as photos and their lives.
I would also like to make a point, this is not a genealogical site, but it gives us a wonderful opportunity to connect our relatives, showing really how small our world is, so I hope that some that feel they don't want to transfer for whatever reason and this is your right, perhaps think that MOST of us, do not do it for numbers but because we appreciate the honor of caring for our relatives like I do. When I hear about my relatives even thou I have never met them, it's like knowing them. Hope this makes sense.

RE: Thanks
You are quite welcome. And thanks for the compliment, I have always liked my name, especially since I was named after one of my Mom's favorite cousins. If you need help with any other relatives' gravesites in the Kewanee area, please let me know. I'd be happy to look for them for you.

Larry R. Deskins
Hi Sue:

Memorial #116799321 - Larry R. Deskins.

Larry was not buried in Most Blessed Sacrament Cemetery. I spoke to his wife and she said Larry was cremated and his ashes were given back to his family.

If you need more information, please let me know.

Please make necessary changes on his memorial.

T.Y.

RE: Webb Cemetery at Webb Branch
The cemetery has been called two names over the years. Most local people call it the Charles Vandyke Cemetery. The newspapers and funeral homes usually refer to it as the Webb Branch Cemetery. If it was called the Webb Cemetery, it's a mistake. There are no Webbs buried there. I think either Webb Branch Cemetery or Charles Vandyke Cemetery is acceptable. There's a listing for the Webb Branch Cemetery, but it only has three people listed.
The Chief "James P Wyllie" Swift Eagle listing is not in the correct cemetery either. Notice the death certificate say Keen Mountain as the address. Webb Branch is a few miles below Oakwood.

RE: Allie Agnes Sarver Deskins
Well I am sorry for you loss, I know you and your dad were very close.
I have a copy of William Taylor Sarver, birth record from Va. I don't know why or when he went by George, I knew him when he and Nora (second wife) live in Wolf Creek , Monroe co. WV but never knew him as George, when when he married Nora it states George his name. ??????? And Grandma Allie was adopted by a family of Epling in the Gap Mills Wv area, but I don't know why or when , William and Ada got a divorce, and she moved to Ohio with her daughter, and there again I don't know what happened , there were several kids, and one son not listed was Layton or Leighton Sarver, . If it comes down to putting blood kin , I would only put William and Ada Francis Lowe Sarver as parents. It is hard to find records for somethings.
You have a great day, it is good to hear from you.

That Rosa Catherine Boyd is the one that is buried with her husband Burdine Looney. She was the daughter of Issac Newton Boyd, Jr and Nancy Duty. Have you been to Issac and Nancy's graves? Or, how about Issac, Sr. and Sarah's graves?

Find A Grave Memorial# 133773040 is the one you are requesting a photo for. I have the photo, but won't post it to a cemetery that don't exist.

RE: Find A Grave Memorial# 124200449
Hi Sue,

Burdine Looney is listed on Find A Grave as being buried in the Mathis Looney Cemetery at Leemaster. I've never been to the Mathis Looney Cemetery and don't know where it is located. However, I have been to the Burdine Looney Cemetery. There are only three graves visible, Burdine, Rosa Cathern, and one grave marked with a fieldstone.

Allie Agnes Sarver Deskins
Hi Sue , it has been a while, but I found out that my grandmother Allie was adopted back in 1910 or around that time, census stated this in 1910 and 1920 census.. I don't know why, but her mother went to Ohio after her and William Taylor Sarver got a divorce, still working on times and dates. but I have papers stating this. But I was told that you can't have birth parents listed and adopted parents also, well, well if I can't do this , I will only have her real parents listed, because I think that family that adopted her wasen't needing a child , just a worker at home. I wish I knew they loved her, but all I read is NOT!!!

Webb Cemetery at Webb Branch
There is no such place as the Webb Cemetery on Webb Branch. I don't know who chose to make up this name. The cemetery is known by two names, Webb Branch Cemetery and Charles Vandyke Cemetery. More recent it is called The Charles P. Vandyke Cemetery. I have it completely photographed but refuse to add pictures until the correction is made. I see you have a couple of "photo request" listed that I can fulfill when the corrections are made. Do you know who started this cemetery?
