I have been doing family research for approximately 30 years and specialize in Jackson County, Indiana. I have an extensive database and am willing to share and compare.|
Surnames researched in Jackson County are primarily from Owen, Carr and Driftwood Townships.
I urge everyone to please cite sources on YOUR research; FAG, Ancestry, Rootsweb and all genealogy sites are merely guides not the end. Everyone in your file should have BLMD ---- Born, Lived, Married, Died and must have appropriate sources.
Sorry that I have to rant but with the popularity of genealogy, blatant errors will live much longer than our ancestors ever did!
Good luck to all and happy hunting!

|Joyce Gieszler||Dean/McClary Connection|
Hi Jan. I just found a marriage certificate between Nancy McClary and Daniel Dean on 25 Mar 1797 in Mercer, Kentucky. The bondsman was Jeremiah Sage Dean. My 4x great grandfather, Daniel Dean was married to a Nancy (we are unsure of last name) and their youngest son was named Jeremiah Sage Dean. I'm guessing that Nancy is indeed Nancy McClary! Her father's name is listed on another document as Samuel. Census records show that she was born in approximately 1777 in Virginia. Are these part of your McClary family? I feel like I'm sooo close to a breakthrough on this family. I started tracking Jeremiah Sage's family and sure enough they settled in Clark Co. and Scott Co., Indiana as did my family.
I'd love to know if you're familiar with this Samuel McClary and daughter Nancy. I'm seen other Samuels, but no daughters named Nancy. I appreciate any help you're willing to offer. Take care, Joyce Dean Gieszler
|Judie Custer||RE: Ross/Bundy|
There is an Elmer Ross (1904-1977) buried in an adjacent lot. Perhaps this was her first husband? That burial record lists the nearest relative as Dorothy Marie Ross. Please let me know what you find out.
|Judie Custer||RE: Dorothy Ross|
I claimed your photo request for this marker at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis. When I went to the location today I found a marker for Dorothy Bundy with the exact same dates of 1921-2001. The burial record indicates Ross is the surname and Bundy is the maiden name. I am wondering if this information is reversed. The marker is shared with Doyle Bundy & Glenn Bundy. There are two memorials on Find A Grave - one for Dorothy Ross & one for Dorothy Bundy. Can you shed any light on this? Thanks!
|Lynn Waller||RE: Weddle, Weddell, Waddell, etc|
Jan, So glad to hear from you. Daniel W.W.'s daughter Maggie thought his father was named Hiram. But I have found no documentation for that. It is good to see another possible route. I look forward to the recovery of your data. Do you have a tree on ancestry? Mine is called the Waller Family Tree.
All the people and sources you mentioned are new to me.Encouraging to know that there is more out there than I have found.
I'm eager to hear more from you.
|Lynn Waller||Weddel family (or Weddle)|
I am a 2nd great grandson of Daniel Webster Weddel (1838-1900), According to his daughter he had several brothers Gasper (or Jasper), Norman (1834-1911), and Daniel K. who all served in the 50th and 52nd Indiana Infantry together. What do you know about these Weddels? Any help would be appreciated.
