Renfro family
Dear Bonnie,

First I am sorry for the loss of your husband.

I am not sure if you are back to answering messages, but thought I would put this out.

I am researching the family of my great-great grandmother; Ruth Renfro.

I noticed your memorial page for John Fortner Renfro and read the story on the picture of the placque stating that your family moved to Texas from Missouri. My GG Grandmother was from the Mine LaMotte area of Missouri in Madison County. This is in southeast Missouri. The sign stated that several of their children traveled to Texas and I am guessing that a few stayed back in Missouri.

Do you happen to have a list of all their children, and if so, would they have a daughter named Ruth? At this time we have her birth in 1829 and death sometime after 1888. She was a mid-wife and we know that she was at the birth of one of her grandchildren in 1888. We don't have an actual death date on her. She was married 3 times, each of her husbands preceded her in death.

Thank you for your time and your dedication (or addiction) to your genealogy.

Nancy Alcott Boling Sanders
Nancy's is James Thomas Boling, his father is James Thomas Boling born in England. They do not decend from Pocahontas. I found the obituary for Thomas Bolling the son of Thomas Bolling and Elizabeth Gay. He died. He was born in 1766 died in 1836 in Caroline County Virginia. I have put his obituary up on our James Thomas Boling memorial. Thomas Bolling was deaf and so was his brother John and sister Mary Bolling. Very few Boling, Bolling, Bolin lines connect to Pochantas. In Washington County Indiana a few lines say they connect to Pochantas, but found out that they don't. So far only one line does through DNA testing.

William DeWeese
Happy Independence Day!

If memory serves me well, it was William DeWeese Sheriff of Philadelphia whose duty it was for the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence approved by the Second Continental Congress on July 4th 1776.

He assigned John Nixon to do the reading on July 8th possibly due to Williams advanced age (conjecture on my part)
Please correct me if I have any facts wrong.

Nancy Renfro Kennedy
Nancy Renfro Kennedy is the daughter of William and Cloe Renfro. She is not the daughter of John Renfro and Esther Peak. They only had sons. I copy of his Bible Record was in his Rev War application. John and Esther are my 5th great grandparents through his 2 sons Isaac and Jesse Byrd Renfro. I joined the DAR through Isaac. Nancy was John Renfro 1760's younger sister.

RE: DeWees family
Thanks for the listing of the children of Cornelius, Jr. and Margaret Richards Dewees.

I did find some problems, such as the estimated date of death for Cornelius appears to be two different people, the first died before all of his children were born and the second died at 113 years of age.

BTW, I also found an entry in Augustus Lutheran cemetery for David Dewees (# 7071515) who is somehow linked to his grandparents as his father and mother. I have sent an edit to the manager of that memorial.

Once again, thanks for the information.

Garden Ford possibility
I was looking at the dates and comparing I am beginning to think that Leory Cox is actually Leora Shepherd Cox. I want to do more looking before Iam sure.

Garden Ford Cemetery
Hello, I have been looking for Samuel Shepherd and his wife Martha Jane Phelps. I found an old cemetery record that said they are buried at Garden Ford. I don't know if their stones still exist or how to find this cemetery. Love to know if there are any more identifiable stones there. I believe Leory Cox is the child of Leora Shepherd Cox and a grand child of Sam and Martha.
