RE: Millers from Point Oneida
The Point Oneida fair was last week ending Sat.
The Millers that I knew/know had several daughters
and a son "Red", who passed away in 1980's.
They had moved to Muskegon but returned to Leelanau Co. But as far as family sections, unless a life lease was worked out.there's no claim anymore other than to visit the farm if it's still there. Tom Ulrich, head of Park Service would be person to contact. My mother's friend had shown us where the farm was, but I thought it was gone, just a dead end at Lake Michigan,if I remember correctly. She ended up as my godmother when I was a baby, but did not want to look at high school of her and my mother,so left it at that.

RE: Millers from Point Oneida
Yes, some hired lawyers and came up with life-leases.But one notable case evicted the lady about four years ago, even though she had a life-lease. Thoresons still go back to their homestead and participate in the "fair" there.
I have known many people in this area as my relation has lived in area (Good Harbor,Cedar)140 years. Millers had mostly left area, except for ones married to Winowieckis (shirt tale relation) in late 40's and went to Muskegon.(can not remember if they are buried at Oneida or not).

Millers from Point Oneida
Hello,
Land around Sleeping Bear was seized by Dept. of Interior, after negoiations broke off. I saw many people forced out in last fifty years. I knew Millers from Pt. Oneida because my mother grew up in Michigan and went to school with them before they moved to Muskegon.

RE: Mortimer Smith
Thank you for your kind words and I'm happy to impart knowledge whenever I can. If you should come across any additional buildings Mr. Smith designed, I would love to know them as I am so fond of 19th & 20th Century architecture. All the best!

Mortimer Smith
If you are descended from Mortimer Smith and Emma Barnard, we are most likely cousins. If Mortimer is your ancestor, you can go to his page and ask me for a transfer.

Bills in Indiana?
I trudged recently through a soggy Mt. Gilead cemetery in Monroe County, IN, and I noticed a marker for Ora and Lola Bills, 86007858. That is an uncommon name (to me), so I thought I'd mention in case there is some relation there to you. Many of my family are in that cemetery.

Re; 89384991 Judith Whittingham Gould

HELLO

I noticed your comment on the above memorial.
This happens to be my Husband's 8th Gr. Grandmother.
But I have not been able to find much on her.
The memorial states "maiden name Unknown"- then
what is the Whittingham? Was she married before
Jonathan Poole? I have attempted to find her
vitals, but they are not shown in the sites I check.
Do you have any idea where they came from?

I hope you will shed some light on her for us.
