Each time I come upon a grave record in my genealogy,I stop and check to see if it is entered. Each time I pass or visit a cemetery,I take pictures and information and enter them if they are not on,in Hope all of you do the we all get a lot from this web site.

RE: Message James Spain
My "message" is actually the photo I took of St Paul's Cemetery, years ago. This is called a cemetery photo and it appears on ALL memorials within that cemetery. There is an option YOU choose which removes the cemetery photo from your particular memorial within that cemetery.

Florence Brinkley Willingham Nesbitt
Brink is my husband's cousin. Her father George W. Willingam was the son of Josephine Isabelle Basden. Isabelle was the daughter of Sarah Delilah Thomason. Jerry has 4 DNA matches to 4 of Sarah's children and numerous matches to the Thomason lines.

RE: Your Lines
Hello Gerry,
Thank you for your contributions. I try to stay up with my edits. I have a William Watkins that was my Great Great Grandfather that I am not 100% sure were he is buried. I think he is buried at the Union United Methodist Church in Chesterfield county S.C. but I am not certain so I have never added a memorial for him. Thank you and keep up the good work.

God bless,

John F. Roberts family
Hello Gerry,

Just want to say thank you for taking time to send corrections/additions for the John F. Roberts memorials. I've spent countless hours over a period of years researching this family. They are pretty scattered.

RE: The Grave of John W Aven
I am glad you got Carrie's maiden name right as she was from Eufaula or Barbour County, Al. She was quite the mess as she would not marry Swan Burnette until he signed a deed giving her all of his land. It left nothing for his kids from his other marriages. I have pictures of Carrie and she was beautiful and could sing and play the piano. She was quite the catch.

Ms. Amme Greene Roberts who lived in my plantation house was a hoot! Her husband died young. She kept the house up on her own. She wore a pistol between her knees under her skirt. The old house sat empty for years.

RE: The Grave of John W Aven
If you know of any way to force the landowner to let us clean the cemetery let me know. He has almost held me at gunpoint. (Showed me guns in his truck with a hint). It is a very historical cemetery. He is buried there because he married Carrie. Carrie got the land through the Burnett Family....her marriage to Swan Burnett. Swan got it from his first father in law a Harden.

I am restoring a plantation house near the cemetery in Quitman. Some of the Roberts family owned it after my family built it in 1845. It is a treasure.

Per GA law if you ask a landowner to allow you to visit graves and tell him when you will be there to visit with family members buried there he is suppose to let you go. This guy has to be there also, and always has an excuse as to why we can't go and clean it up. SO frustrating.

Hope this helps!

Did you find the grave in Quitman County? I have tried to clean this cemetery for years but the guy who owns the land blocks me. It is so frustrating. I know much about the Burnette family and the Roberts also. Are you related to Amme Greene who married Charlie Roberts?
