I grew up in Spartanburg Co. SC. My family has been in that area since the mid 1700's. I recently left, AT&T after 39 years. Just before I left, I became interested in My Family Genealogy,and discovered Find A Grave. It has been a very useful tool in my research. I am member of the Gainesville Chapter-Florida Society of The Sons of The American Revolution and also affiliated with Ancestry.com.
The lines I am especially interested in are; Hendrix/Hendricks, Stinnette/Stinnett, Bishop, Jones,Moss,Ward,Littlefield,Rogers/Rodgers,Johnson and Grant .

Bobby, I didn't receive your email.
Bobby, In reference to memorial #43777498 for William Wiley Hendrix I'm wondering if the following marriage might be his widow?
From Spartanburg Marriages 1785-1911 implied in Probate Records: Shurbutt, Aaron M. to Ann H. Hendrix, file 2448, (Hendricks) widow of W.W. Hendrix.
Any help appreciated-Thanks-Dwight Crowe

I am assisting my husband with research about his family. His father was Ebert Thomas, Son of Gus Soloman Thomas. Gus's mother was Mary Jane Hendrix, daughter of Issac (Ike) Hendrix and Gatsay Martin Hendrix. Do you have any information about these relatives? Apparently, the family is originally from Georgia. The migrated to East Texas and then moved about 100 miles to the north in Oklahoma.
|Shawn Hendrix||RE: Hendrix DNA Project|
Thanks for your response. I too have had my YDNA tested. My 5th great-grandfather (all record proven) was Garret Hendrix, but the one that moved into Knox County TN and died in 1808. Our Haplogroup is T L-208. I am having mine tested deeper at the moment. Martin Hendrix at FTDNA seems to believe that my Garret is the son of Henry Hendrix, son of James Hendricks and grandson of Albertus,and He is the one that is not Frontier Hendricks. I am all but certain that the elder Garret Hendrix, Union SC, is related to me. There is much confusion here, but from my research, I think the records hold up as Dr. Davenport put together. I am beginning to think that we are dealing with an orphan, adoption or something else. I have tried to track down a certain descendant of both Henry and the old Garret, but nothing yet. If you look at my matches, I have 3 matches from SC, a younger Henry, Archibald and Grant Garret Hendrix. This makes me think Henry and Garret were brothers. If you ever need to contact me, my email is email@example.com.

I am related to some of the SC Hendrix's and have been trying to track down male Hendrix descendants to possibly take the Y DNA test. I have matches around Newberry, Union, Pickens and Spartanburg. Garret Hendrix died in Union Dist. @ 107 years old in 1823. This line is probably my line. Have you ever taken the Y DNA test or know of any one that may be interested? Let me know.

You and I must share some Hendrix ancestors. You have done a great job with the memorials of the CSA. It's was how many there are. Thanks for all you do!

John Holley is buried there and I would like very much to find out if his father James Holley, Sr. is also buried there. James Holley, Sr. was born 1750 and died 1829. These are my ancestors and I would appreciate any information that you can help me with. Thank you so much for your time. John Holley was born 1785 and died 1861. His wife was Rosannah Waters Holley. |Darlene Taylor||Nancy Johnson|
I am looking for my great grand mother Nancy Johnson who married Robert Taylor both born in S Car. Their son John Henry Taylor (also known as Henry T) married Lula Victoria Currie and lived in the Hamlet area of N car. I found Nancy Johnson born abt 1858 daughter of Lodwick Johnson and Angeline Waddell . She would be about the correct age. On the 1900 census it states that Lodwick and Angeline had 8 children of which 5 were still living. I have been able to find 6 of them. But of the 6 I have only been able to find 4 to know who they married and dates of death. Nancy and William or the two I can't locate. If you have any information on this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Darlene Taylor Knowles

Can you tell me your source for Jane Patton's first name being Mary? The gravestone has M. Jane Patton. I believe she was the 2nd wife of Robert Patton.
