|Barbara A Johnston||James McCartney 1745-1835|
I am familiar with all of the great work you have done for the Jamison and McCartney families, Thank you.
James McCartney is my 6th generation great grandfather.
I have been approved as a Daughter of the American Revolution with James as my patriot. I am trying to get Mary "Mollie" Jamison listed as his second wife in the DAR records. The first applicant for James listed his wife's name as Mary Taggart, who may or may not have been the mother of his first child Robert born 1763 in Ireland before they immigrated. They have only approved her name for the eight children of James and Mollie born in Westmoreland Co, PA between 1777-1792, the last Joseph born 1802 in Ross Co OH. They have a mismash of the birth and death dates of Mollie Jamison list for this Mary Taggart. Do you have any concrete evidence for the marriage of James and Mollie. I see your date 1774, others have 1776-1778. Their first child Isaac, based on the information on his headstone (see his memorial) was born in July of 1777, so I tend to go with those who list the marriage at circa 1776. I am presenting a mountain of circumstantial evidence for their marriage, but have not found a record for their marriage. I would appreciate any information you have.
Thank you again for all your hard and excellent work.
By the way if you are interested: the family Bible that recorded the birth date of James he noted was in the possession of the "heirs of John Tagart and his wife Sarah. Sarah is the sister of James. Their memorials are John # 148634373 and Sarah # 148634438. I wish there was a way to link James and Sarah as family but not since we don't have information for a memorial for Isaac their father. Would you be interested in adding this info and their memorial numbers to your bio for James so other researchers can trace them.
Carolyn Schumate, who contributed to your page on the internet is a descendant of James' son Marmaduke as am I.

Hi, Melody! Glad you enjoyed the pics. The real big thanks belongs to Leah Leatherman Spade who, if I remember correctly, is the one who "rediscovered" the burial ground. Cheers!

I am even more thrilled to meet you. I wasn't aware of Sarah Barbary's existence let alone the fact that both she and her brother (John Henry Fisher, my gr-gr grandfather)migrated to Page County, Iowa. John Henry and Tamar Jarnigan are buried in Memory Cemetery in Page County. I also notice on your web site an acknowledgement of April Kyle Bladh. Both she and her late Mother, Rose Kyle, have been dedicated researchers for years. I am sure to have some more questions for you later.
