I will only transfer memorials if you state your relationship with the person and are within the guidelines for transfer.

I will also transfer any WWII Veteran to any researcher that needs them.

Any photo that I have taken, of a tombstone or marker may be copied without my permission. I took them but the families of these people have every right to use them.

Obituaries will only be added if you send me the source of the article. Otherwise it violates copyright laws and I will not add them.

Use the EDIT tab to send corrections or suggestions. If you e-mail me direct your message will probably go to my Junk Mail and I won't see it.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I am slowly transferring all of my National Cemetery memorials to FAG. If you want one or more of them let me know.

RE: Winston Baker
I contacted someone at Pine Crest and she said she would look around and see what she can find. I think he might have been moved, or I'm looking in the wrong place with the wrong plot info. I will keep looking. Also I contacted someone to help me find out more information about Winston's death. The date, Oct 25, 1944, is a famous battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines, and one article I read said the 24th Corp was there. I'm really interested in finding something out. It appears from census data from 1930 and 1940 that he may have been an only child and both parents have passed. I will keep hunting. Thanks for your help.

RE: Sgt Fred Barto
His veteran's burial card says Horn's Russian Cemetery. It is separate consecrated ground surrounded by a chain link fence on both sides of the road as the numbers of burials increased. St. Nicholas was one of 4 Russian Orthodox Old Believers churches in the USA. http://old.post-gazette.com/neigh_washington/20000625waold4.asp I am not sure when that property became St. Nicholas Cemetery and separate from Horn's as there are Russian orthodox burials in the regular cemetery but they were earlier. The church that supports this cemetery was not built until 1910 or so. I might have a window of about 15 minutes to go the that graveyard tomorrow. I only just started photographing this cemetery. I have a person that will translate the Russian for me. I did take a picture and put it on Find-a-Grave for the father Paul. Janis

RE: Rodrigo
I found the memorial by looking at a bookmark I keep that points me to all the memorials in the last 24 hours with a blank surname. The link itself is long (see below), essentially, though, I get there by asking for an uncommon surname with "partial" checked, then filter by last 24 hours, then remove the surname and replace it with two numbers. Using two numbers lets you sneak around the two character restriction on surname searches; I use it often to find double-quote characters where they should not be.

Here's the link I have bookmarked. You can highlight the whole thing and paste it in the address bar in your browser to see what you get (a few dozen memorials). There are other contributors that also look at that page to try to nip blank surname memorials in the bud.

Pvt. Ibanez Santos Jr WW2
Hello,

My name is Simon. I am 22. I live in France in Lorraine. I am contacting you about Pvt. Ibanez Santos Jr.

I am currently doing research on the liberation of my region by the 80th Infantry Division of the US Army during the month of November 1944.

This research is performed as part of an academic work (master thesis - second year).

Watching the After Action Reports in the archives of the division in order to establish the number of losses suffered by the division between 18 and 28, november 1944, I came across the name of Ibanez Santos Jr.
He belonged to B Company, 1st Battalion, 317th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division of US Army.

On november 26, 1944, his battalion attacked at 08:00, in the direction of the small village of Altviller (near the town of Saint-Avold and the place where I live). Light resistance was encoutered.

That's why, I ask you if you have any information about Pvt. Ibanez Santos Jr I can use for writing my thesis and make his Story known. I am grateful for his sacrifice.

Please contact me : 80blueridge@gmail.com

Best regards,

Simon.

Janice, Meredith Manning is my Great-Grandfather and Luther Leonard Manning is my Grandfather. If you want, you can contact me via my personal email address. How do I send a private message in order to give to you my private email address? I am a novice with this service.

My father is Charles Leonard Manning and we just lost him on April 2nd. I want to research photos, etc. in order to make a family scrapbook and to keep up with my family history.
