There is no such place as the Shongola Cemetery in Carroll County (Vaiden), Mississippi.

There is the SHONGALO (note the spelling difference) section of the Vaiden Cemetery (, but nothing with the Shomgola spelling.

The "32 Soldiers Known Only Unto God" is the Confederate lot of the Shongalo section of the Vaiden Cemetery. I grew up within 100 feet of the Shongalo section of the Vaiden Cemetery. The 32 (and more) soldiers that are "known only unto God," have been identified, and there is a marker for each of them.

I would be greatly honored to have William in my "Garden". William's grandfather, John Baytop Scott (b.1773 & son of James Scott)and my ggg grandfather John Baytop Scott (b.1761 & son of Thomas Scott)were first cousins.
While reading Annie Noble Sims' book, "From The Notes Of William Owen Nixon", I read the tearful story about William Owen Nixon's home being destroyed in 1865 by the Union soldiers just days after Lee's surrender. After reading and researching his family, I felt the need to create his memorial, 156548232. I am so thankful that Alfred and Rebecca named one of their sons in his honor. Thank you Debbie.

How do I know if we are related? My relatives are Annie nee Ellis Keplinger and her baby, buried in the Hudson,MN cemetery(1874). She is my 2x great-grandmother on that side. I am from Saint Paul, MN. It took me a lot of searching to find this Grandmother. She disappeared off Census, then a few years later, the Grandfather was remarried. Now, I am trying to find where she was born.
You have such a wonderful a view on life.

Thank-you very much,
Bonnie A.

RE: FAG 118682255
Debbie, in researching this family there are many members buried in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Stanley, De Soto Parish, La. Stanley is only 6.3 miles from Logansport where Buford (Beauford's) body was sent. I would have to guess Mt. Olivet is where he is buried. I don't know if there is a cemetery office you could contact and ask.

RE: FAG 118682255
This memorial is not for the Beauford LaFitte you are looking for - this is another Burford LaFitte. The death certificate I sent you states your Burford was buried in Logansport, LA. I will try to do some more digging to find out where he is buried but I have not located a Find A Grave memorial for him.

You sent me the following message:

You don't by any chance know where you got the info to add Buford to Find A Grave, do you? I am looking for an ancestor and I think this Buford is the one. Do you have any other info on him by any chance?
Thank you so much for your time and contributions to Find A Grave!

I believe I have found your Beauford Novy LaFitte - Death Certificate states he was born 12-11-1900 and died 8-17-1926 in Houston Harris County Texas. From research I have done, he died at his mother's house 218 Velasco, Houston, Harris County Texas. I find it very off that he is listed as a Laborer and died of Natural Causes at the age of 25 years and a few months old. His name is spelt Buford instead of Beauford on the Death Certificate. The body was shipped to Logansport, La and date of burial was 19 August 1926. His father is listed as James La Fitte on the DC.

If you email me from your email address, I will attach a copy of this DC for you to review.
