Bio

I am Shirley Marks Whitmore an avid genealogical and historical researcher with deep roots in Louisiana. My maternal ancestors came into what is now Morehouse Parish in NE Louisiana in the late 1700's, so I have generations of ancestors and collateral kin resting in that area. My paternal lines lived in the Avoyelles area, and their arrival there likely dates back to the early 1800's. I am also interested in the people of Grimes County, Texas, Parsons, Kansas, Red Bird, Oklahoma, and my husband's and children's other ancestors who came to SW Arkansas as enslaved servants during the mid 1800's, from Laurens County, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia.
