I'm starting to see way too many headstones being cleaned. This troubles me. It is not your responsibility to touch or disturb a headstone. Cleaning them with a power washer is on so many levels of wrong it's scary. Using any detergent is also wrong, especially bleach as it seeps into the cracks of the stone and weakens it until it will crumble. |
If you must clean a stone, soap and water and elbow grease with a soft bristled brush are the only things you should use.
NO DETERGENTS, BLEACH, or HIGH PRESSURE WASHERS!

|Robert Jeffers||# 102713664 Willis Sheridan Snider Jr.|
Willis was my grandfather, he was an Operational Engineer, who died in a grader accident. I never knew him. He had several siblings/half siblings Pearl Snider, Bertha Snider, Cleta Daisy Snider, Vigil Leland Snider, Tilman Snider, and his father was Willis Sheridan Snider Sr., his mother was Anna Thies of Sand Ridge, buried in Tower Grove Cemetery, Jackson County, his wife was Rose (Danis) Snider and his four children were Sheridan Keith Snider buried in Saint John's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Chester, Wanda Lee (Snider) Jeffers, buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Chester, Dennis Michael Snider, buried in Indiana, and one still living is Mary Jane (Snider) Hudson. Both Willis and Sheridan Keiths Headstones are misspelled, big bling$$$$ mistakes, I can't do anything about those, but their names were inherited from Willis Sheridan Snider Sr., who was a twin and both twins were named after Union Generals, Sheridan and Sherman, by their parents 1st Sgt. Volunteer 9th Infantry Regiment, Company K (Union Army Veteran) Andrew Jackson Snider and wife Eliza Ann Lattie of Kent, England, who had 8 children. Both buried in Creath Cemetery, Sand Ridge, IL. I have not located all of those either. I hope this helps with getting the memorial complete. G'Day!

|C. Ann Carruthers||RE: Cecil Saul|
I didn't know the story about those men. It was absolutely heartbreaking to me to hear that Cecil had died. We started emailing in June of 2011 or 2012 and kept it going until shortly before his death. He was such a joy to know.
Paul Hoyt, another Jackson County FAGrave person, was at his burial and photographed his tombstone. Paul called me in Ohio and we talked about the service. I am still so sad....
