Bio Photo Hello from New Mexico.
I've been excavating and cataloging pioneer cemeteries for over 30 years. In the 1980s I even published a few works on the subject. Like most of you, I'm also an avid genealogist. While I enjoy finding the graves of famous people, I'm more interested in the common soldier and pioneer. Every one of them has a story.

As for genealogy, I am currently working on the surnames Trine, Minter, Dozier, Shackleford and Marquez. I'm also collecting the names and graves of the Maryland 6th Infantry.

I'm usually "on the road," so my photos come from wherever I happen to be. I've had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of wonderful people who share this love for history. Contact me if I can be of any help to you.

Do you live near the 'Burg ??? The information on Lawrence Montague was in the Martinsburg Journal ... the Berkeley County Historical Society has the issue on microfilm ... they are open on Thursday and Fridays ...

Lawrence A. Montegue
At his daughters request, he was exhumed and moved to a cemetery in Washington, DC. You can contact the Berkeley County Historical Society, in Martinsburg, for additional information.

RE: Walsh Research
Awesome, thanks Eddie. I will check out those resources.

I'm working on a television show and would be willing to pay your cousin for permission to use the photos of the Walsh's. I'd need to get it squared away this as soon as possible though. My direct line is 570-439-1175 or she can email me at

RE: Walsh Family

Wow that's incredible. Thanks for making the information available to other researchers. Would you be able to put me in contact with your cousin? I'm actually doing some research in West Virginia right now. My email information is available in my bio.

I also reached out to Doran/Walsh/Gallagher.

Thanks Eddie,

Walsh Family
Hi Eddie,

Was wondering where you tracked down the photos of the Walsh girls. Been doing a lot of research on the family and thought you might be able to share your source with me.

RE: Joseph Zeigler
I found a Joseph D. Zeigler on the Illinois Civil War musters. He was a 1Lt in the 114th IL US Infantry, mustered in 9-18-1862. Native of Waynesboro, Franklin Co., Pa., living in Springfield, Sangamon County, IL, at the time of enlistment at age 20. The PA connection helps perhaps.

RE: Joseph Zeigler
It appears the photo may be correctly matched but of course I cannot say for sure. In the 1881 Bios of this county, Joseph's father Henry was stated to be from Franklin Co., Pa. You can read that info here:

I have no other info regarding this man or his family other than what is already posted and the above info but can look around for any other tibits a bit later.
