I grew up in the military, with my father serving in the Air Force for over 28 years. I have lived all over the world. 30 years ago I wanted to know who my family was. So, I set out working on Geneology. It doesn't help to have common surnames in ones family. In the process I found both sides of my family were in the US from the beginning. I am still working on my family history and have since started on my husband's family. |
Family photos are in my mother's or my possession. Please ask before using them. If your related, then I would love to hear from you.
I love to take pictures. I also love to wander in cemetaries to see what kinds of markers are out there. I have taken photos of those I like. It was fun to find this site, as I really am interested in helping anyone and everyone find their family.
Respect is what I give to those I take pictures of, even though they are tombstones.
DUPLICATIONS: If I had duplicated a memorial, it is not intentional. So please send a "nice" email letting me know. If the date of mine is after yours, I will delete it, with no problem. If my date is before yours, let me know and I MAY consider giving it to you. Policy is to delete duplications, with the oldest being the one that stays. We need to respect each other when dealing with duplications.
My family research: Taylor, Hodge, Wineland, Matheson, True, White, Moorhead/Moorehead, Hoyt, Bond, Hellem, Ward, to name a few.
My husband's family research: Wiltzius, Nelson, Larsen, Gypp, Koeppler/Keppler, Kloida, John, Bergstadt, Gorenchan, to name a few.

|Dennis Elya||Benskin Siegel Connection|
My wife is Bev Benskin. Bertha May Taylor is her great grandmother. I was in the navy when we married and we lived on Naval Ave in Bremerton. I walked past Ivy Green Cemetery on my way to the shipyard. We will definitely check it out the next time we visit our Washington family!
I am ever so grateful for your passion. The miles you pit on a vehicle, the time you sacrifice - just so i can spend 2 minutes to look up the Find A Grave data! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Dennis Elya
I'm sorry I skipped a generation I would be their Great-Great-Great Granddaughter.
Melvins parents were Ole and Edith Hellem, Ole is Elef and Torbjors son.
Hi, I've done research on all branches of my family with the Hellem side being my last. I was wondering (I know the picture is old) if there was a better quality picture of Torbjor and Elef Hellem? I would be their Great-Great Granddaughter.
Torbjor + Elef
Melvin Hellem + Alice (Bolstad)
Carol(Hellem) + Phil Jones
Tamara (Jones) + Jason = me :)
|Kim Elder||RE: Elder|
So you think your Elder Ancestors came from the same area in Scotland as mine. I know Elder is a very old name in Scotland so I wouldn't be surprised if they are connected.
|Kim Elder||RE: Perkins families|
Yep, we are definitely related through Mary Perkins Bradbury. I descend from Wymond where you descend from his sister, Jane.
Nice to meet you cousin.
As far as my Elder ancestors, my Elder Family originally came from Stirlingshire and Perthshire, Scotland. My 2nd Great Grandfather John Elder was born in Polmont, Stirlingshire, Scotland on March 15, 1843 and he came to America in 1866 and settled in Lynn, Massachusetts in 1870. I have been able to trace my Elder family back to my 5th Great Grandfather Thomas Elder. Here is my lineage:
Thomas Elder--Alexandrina Walkinshaw (Did not marry)
Thomas Elder m Jean McDonald
John Elder m Elizabeth Cowie
John Elder m Martha Wright Brundage
George Arthur Elder m Bessie Irene Goding
George Arthur Elder Jr. m Lilly Arnold
then my Dad and then Me.

Rowland Bradbury m Elizabeth Oliver
Ann Bradbury m John Kirkpatrick
John Kirkpatrick Jr. m Nancy Starett

|Cheryl Shepherd||Possible Cousins|
I found you by looking for the DNA connection for an Ancestry 4th Cousin. His father was a half sibling to the Matherson's. My Great Great Great Grandmother was a Nelson, although I do not know much about her. She was born someplace other than Michigan is all I know for sure. She could have been born in Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, etc. Or even Canada. I don't know. Her first name should be Jane and she married Simon Pottle Sinkler. You have many more of my families surnames as well. I am on Find a Grave as Cheryl Shepherd.
|Nancy Strong||RE: Photo Request for Mariah Wallace|
You are welcome, Lynn. Hope you get everything straightened out.
|Nancy Strong||Photo Request for Mariah Wallace|
I was planning on fulfilling your photo request for your Mariah Wallace (#161038306), but could not find her located in Union Cemetery. After searching our Kosciusko County Historical Society Beacon Website, I found your “Mariah” in the Van Curen Cemetery, on County Road 100N in Washington Township. Her name is spelled Maria on her gravestone. Her birth date is listed as 05/31/1822 (one day later than your information). She already has a Find A Grave memorial (#17476933) created in 2007. It has a photo of her marker that was added in 2010.
Hope this helps you, Nancy Strong (#48525292)
