My name is Deana Goss Martin. My mom, Rita Collvins Mayfield, got me involved in searching for information about our family's past. I haven't been bitten as hard as she has by the genealogy bug but it is very exciting. |
I never spent much time in, much less thinking about cemeteries until we lost our twenty-four year old son Levi. Now when I visit one I find it peaceful most of the time. The minister at our son's funeral told a story of a little girl who took a short cut through a cemetery to get home. When they ask her why she went that way she said, because it's the way home. I now look at cemeteries in a whole new light and find myself wanting to preserve someones memories.
As I get more involved and add names to help out, feel free to let me know if I have added your family member whom you would like to have turned over to you. I will be glad to honor your request.

Oh goodness, the transfer of the Pickens memorials to me are such gifts Deana! I am so thrilled to be able to help write more of their stories, thanks to the book written by a fellow cousin who knows their history. My heart is full by your sweet gesture. They will be well cared-for. Warmly, Helen Pickens Murphy, Nashville, TN

Hi Deana, I may need to eventually add YOU to my family tree as you have been such a wonderful asset in creating so many memorials for my extended family members! Thank you so much for the transfer of Ernest Pickens to me for management. It has been exciting these past couple of weeks to connect with two more cousins from my Pickens family who are as addicted to genealogy as myself! With their help, I will be helping write his story and hopefully adding some heritage photos. Have a great day, Helen
