Benner Family
Hello! I just got off the phone with Lois Hunsiker, she encouraged me to reach out to you for information on the Benner family.
In the 1840 census I find the first information on my 3rd great grandmother, Elizabeth Benner, my third great uncles, Elias, David, and Christopher Benner, and my 2nd great grandfather, Joseph Benner.
Elizabeth claims she was born in MD and so does Elias and David, Christopher and Joseph were born in Virginia. I have no knowledge of what Elizabeth's maiden name was, and no idea who her husband was. Her husband must of died before 1840, or they separated, as I have nothing on him. If you have any knowledge of Elizabeth especially, I would appreciate it.
Relatives of mine that lived in and around Knox County are Ammons, Baker, Ballenger, Bowls, Bunnell, Childers, Clatt, Clouser, Gardner, Hainline, Hoehle (pronounced Hay-Lee), Hudson, Lewis, McMillen, Olson, Schempp, Sellers, Sparks, Sullivan, Vandolah, and of course Benner! I would love to have copies of anything that you can offer on my family. I live in Tampa, Florida, so I am not able to search for myself.

Col. Henry S. Lipscomb
Buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Palmyra
He was married in 1848-9 to Martha E. Maddux, she died in 1866, so would have been his wife during the Civil war years. He later married Susan Sinclair.

I also would like to thank you for all of the information you have provided for my family. Sincerely Sandra E. Butler

Hello

We are the son and the daughter-in-law of Kenneth Richard O'Neal. Would you be willing to transfer care of this record to us? We know our Dad's body was donated to science; however, there is a memorial stone in the Dickerson Run Union Cemetery in Dickerson Run, Fayette County, PA which would be the accurate Find-A-Grave location.

This is our contributor number: #47945727

Thank You,

Kenneth Michael O'Neal and Beth Maria O'Neal

Thanks for the info. Now that I look more closely I see that the "original" maintained by Find A Grave is for a marker only and is not in that cemetery.

I agree with you that the Ancestry ownership has certainly diverged from what Find A Grave was all about for so many years. In fact, I'm not sure they have a real plan for what Find A Grave should be. Their volunteers seem to be all about speed rather than accuracy. Thankfully those of us more concerned with accuracy can keep plugging away to get their messes straightened out, unlike the census records on Ancestry, which only seem to get worse over time. (But they love to brag about how quickly they got the 1940 census records indexed--they had obviously never heard the saying "haste makes waste.")

Sharpe-Hinkson
My grandmother was Alta Fay Sharpe Benner, her father was John Milton Sharpe, and his father was John Harvey Sharpe... I would like to request for photos of all of the Sharpe's and the John Hinkson family. I know you have one of John Hinkson, but I would like one that shows it more clearly if You could please. Also I have numerous request for photos for the LaBelle Cemetery and Lewistown Cemetery, could you help with them? My Grandma Gertrude Willey is buried in Lewistown, she was my mother's mother. Thank you so very much! Carmen Benner Chilson

RE: Washington Lakin
There is quite a history between the Lakin and Easterday families. I descend from Abraham Lakin and Martha Lee. I'm only about 30 minutes from Jefferson and Frederick, Maryland, so if there is ever anything I can do in this area, please let me know!
