Bio and Links
Bio Photo The profile photo is of my great-grandparents. It's their wedding photo taken in 1897. I've had the photograph blown up to an 11 x 17. The frame I used belonged to my grandmother (Ella and Othie's daughter) and it hangs on the wall in my office. It's always within sight reminding me how important it is to remember our ancestors.

I have been doing genealogy for more than 36 years. I've been involved in the planning of previous Indianapolis Family History Conferences, and I'm a member of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). I'm also working on a book about the Bennett Family. Copies will be donated to the local libraries and historical societies once it's finished.

I am very thankful to those who have worked so hard to create memorials for my family members, whether direct-line or not. Because my ancestors are important to me I will continue to ask for transfers when requesting corrections. I do consider it an honor to be able to maintain their memorials. As I've done research, my departed family becomes very real. . .that's why I ask.

Transferring Management My personal philosophy on transferring memorials: I'm not one who hides behind Find-A-Grave guidelines of having to be a direct relative. Those are guidelines, not hard and fast rules. I understand contributors have put a lot of hard work in creating memorials and maybe they don't want to "share" their work with others. That's their choice. Although the majority of the memorials I've added are my family, I have added a few non-family members. I won't hold their memorial hostage. Just ask for the transfer.

On Memorials I manage I have been working on making family connections, adding photographs, biographies and other important information about the individual so that their full story can be told. That's one of the advantages of managing your family's memorials because a stranger cannot tell a family member's story quite like someone who knew them in real life. One of the major advantages of managing your family's memorials is that you can put the photographs in the proper order to better tell their story. Otherwise, you have to send an email and make the request. I've found most will not make those changes.
I welcome all corrections, suggestions and additions.

Edits, Comments, Requests, etc. I try to process edit request, reply to comments and make transfers within 24 hours. If you are researching a common ancestor and have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'm willing to share any information I may have and help you with your research. Some names I have a large amount of information on: Bennett, Bryant, Lanam, Hamm, Brown, Allgood, Beach, Wilcox.

Patience Brown Hadley
Dear Brenda:

I am a descendent of Patience Brown Hadley through my grandmother Eva Carter Stuhlman, whose grandfather was David L. Hadley. I would be interested on materials that you have on the Brown family. I see that someone else has asked about a native American ancestor. My grandmother claimed a native American ancestor. Would it be in the Brown line?

Your picture
I LOVE the picture you posted. We are related way back. My great great Grandfather was James Ensley. He was married to Elizabeth Louise Brown Ensley. I would love to have a digital copy of your picture. My email is I am a retired elementary school principal in Swain County. My name is Shirley Grant. We are having an Ensley reunion on May 20th. Your photo would make our day as we do not have many pictures of our ancestor. My great grandfather was Adolphus Ervin Ensley. His son was James Ervin Ensley and my grandfather was Norman Ensley. I hope to hear from you. I am on facebook and ETSY as ShirleysSigns.

RE: Gary L. Bennett
You are welcome, Brenda.
I'm happy to go and take those photos for you and everyone else. It is enjoyable work. And I volunteer with the Monroe County Cemetery Committee, so these are also scouting trips to plan for making repairs to the headstones.

Margaret was pretty young to be married to Henry.
Are you sure about their marriage?

Just checking....

RE: William Bennett
You are welcome, Brenda.

Yes, I get frustrated, too, with the transfer rules. With some of the rude entitlement some folks on this site have expressed, I understand why the powers that be created the rule. But you and I can choose to be mavericks!

I am very happy to pass on profiles to anyone who can improve them, or simply has heart space for them. Thank you for such a thoughtful note.
