Edits take first priority. Will get to emails when I am able. Thank you for your patience. I had to change my email address recently for Findagrave use only.

PLEASE use the edit tab for contributions, corrections, links, etc., by going to the person's memorial page. Very easy to do! Please do NOT use the Flower Memory for this purpose; this information will be missed because memorial managers will not be notified if a flower is left on it. However, I will sometimes use it if the owner is not responsive or will not add the additional info in the bio section.

Please use email if you have questions or to discuss genealogy further. The public message board is NOT appropriate for exchanging information.

It's my pleasure to take photos and share them with you, however, please give credit where it's due. You may use my pictures for personal use only, with credit given as: "Photo Courtesy: Dorothy Findagrave #47601262". My photos should not be used for publication in any way or form, without permission or knowledge from me.

I try to contribute info when I can as I work through my trees. I branch out as well so I can help make the memorials (and families) as complete as possible. I also create memorials along the way. I encourage you to contribute too! PLEASE do your part to help contribute! Dates, locations, list of children, obits, links, etc. There are too many blank or orphaned or incomplete FAG memorials. Many are not yet linked to each other. If you see them in your trees, please help branch out a little bit and contribute with additional info!

I will remove public messages when I am done reviewing them or have taken action. I have to do this to keep it under control.

A BIG thank you to all memorial creators, photographers, and info contributors who take the time and effort to make this project a huge success. It's really the collaborative effort that we all work together to make this Findagrave possible.

I've always had passion in genealogy. Virtually all my roots started in New England 400 years ago, heavily concentrated in CT and MA. I also have roots in Detroit, all my German ancestors migrated from Germany to Detroit in 1800s. It has been a fascinating journey discovering and learning so much more about my family, their migrations westward, and local history along the way. I have found that Findagrave has been an extremely valuable tool, a great asset in my research.

There are HUNDREDS of genealogy groups on Facebook. Surname, state, regional, and local groups abound. Do take advantage of them, they are free and some folks are really helpful. Use them to find new info and to find new cousins, and more! It's been an amazing way to connect with so many other cousins!

Do take advantage of yDNA testing to preserve the surnames especially those going back 300, 400 years ago in Colonial America. www.FTDNA.com is the best source for yDNA testing and also has the largest and well-established database. The bonus is they keep the testee's sample for up to 25 yrs for future tests. I especially urge those who have roots in Colonial New England have their living MALE relatives who carry the surname Phelps, Riley, Reed, Howe, Mason, Avery, Trowbridge, Eaton, Jackson, Kellogg, Ketchum, Olmsted, Stebbins, Bell, Knott, Douglass, Calkins/Caulkins, Carpenter, and oh, so many more, to test their yDNA. We need your help to establish and confirm the surname branches. The Family Finder test, which is an autosomal DNA test, is another great DNA tool, offered through FTDNA. Get your oldest family members tested first.

Mary Griswold Phelps #136261032
Greetings Dorothy!

I am confused about the whereabouts of Mary, who appears in 2 cemeteries, Palisado Cemetery and Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery. She has at least 3 Find A Grave numbers: yours #136261032; #122426666; and #46385286.

The record added: Jan 06, 2010, and created by: Kiely Malone is Find A Grave Memorial# 46385286 and states Burial unknown.

The record added: Dec 30, 2013 and created by: Dorothy is Find A Grave Memorial# 122426666 Windsor Veterans Cemetery.

and thirdly: Record added: Sep 22, 2014, Maintained by: Dorothy [Originally Created by: Teeter Grosvenor] Find A Grave Memorial# 136261032 Palisado Cemetery.

Are you the same Dorothy maintaining two of these? Do we have any proof that she is buried in either or both of these graveyards?

Please help us find our busy relative. You efforts are appreciated.

Warmly, Marilynne Roscoe

Dolores McGahen Temple, Lake View Cemetery
Since her obit said she was born in South Milford, I left that info alone but I did make a note that her Birth Certificate says she was born in Fort Wayne, IN. I also linked her parents to herself.

Verla Baller
Hi Dorothy
Just saw your record (# 120146161) on above who died 1946. She had been the wife of Walter Baller Snr from the UK. He subsequently returned to the UK and married a 2nd time to a second cousin of mine.

When they were together they had a stillborn(?) son in 1925. His record also says Mt Hope.

My question is did you actually see grave or is your info from the records?

Verla's Family Search record says she died at 5059 Vincennes Ave which further research suggests was a charitable home for women & children. Altogther a sad life

RE: Daniel Palmer Memorial# 19886560
You are so welcome. Daniel is my 8th great granduncle, as his brother Jonathan is my 8X great grandpa. (So I assume you and I are distant cousins of some sort...) I'd be glad to help with any Palmers from this line that you might need info on. Rebecca

Dora Bell Wilder at Hazelmere
Hi Dorothy

There is no record of this person in the burial records for Hazelmere. However I believe she may have remarried and is buried next to her first husband William Wilder as Dora Bell Wilder Loshbaugh.
She is in the record as Block 16 plot 1 and Willian B Wilder is listed as Block 16 plot 2.

Surrey records are here:
http://www.surrey.ca/city-services/2246.aspx

You may want to research a bit more and have the 2 memorials for Dora Bell merged. I have confirmed there is no headstone on any of Block 16.

Hope this helps.

Colin

James Blackman Marriage
James Blackman - Memorial 21340502

You posted a lovely copy of his marriage certificate. I believe the witnesses names on the certificate are Samuel E. Waldron and Mary E. (Blackman) Waldron. This couple is also buried in Blackman Cemetery in Allegan County. Mary is most likely the slightly older sister of James as she was born in 1816.

Hannah Hills 24541734
Hi Dorothy-You are correct about there being two Hannah Hills.
The real Hannah is buried in the "Old Hockanum" cem, AKA Old South Cemetery, and someone also put her in the "Hockanum" cem.
I will contact the person who put her in the Hockanum cem, and have her delete Hannah, as she is not there.

Also, the Samuel Arnold that you requested in the Hockanum cem, is not in the Hockanum cem, but in the "Old Hockanum", if he is the one who died Jan 7, 1829. Irma
