I was born in Nebraska, raised in eastern North Carolina and after living in various parts of the U.S., I now live in northern Utah, just below the Idaho boarder.|
Proud to be a Veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War(did not serve in Vietnam) and am married to a Veteran of United States Army.
The family names I'm researching the most are TEW, GODWIN, HAYES & JACKSON out of North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Texas & Florida.
OBERMIER, FINKE, WEIMER & AGGEN out of Nebraska, Wisconsin & Germany.
I've been doing genealogy for 40+ years and it is one of the things that I love to do.
You have my permission to use any photos that I have added to the memorials and that includes the Death Certificates. This site along with ancestry.com are sites to be shared. To insist on ownership due to my efforts to search would be meaningless to why they were created. But I do understand why others might not feel this way and support how they manage their memorials.
Thank you to those who have helped me out with my requests.
A special thank you to Aleta Hobbs that has gone to Spring Branch Cemetery in Sampson County countless times to photo my requests and then to just photo all the headstones that needed to be added to the memorials there. And she has done the same in many of the cemeteries in the area. She has been simply amazing....
To those who get their britches in a bunch because I leave a Death Certificate on their memorials I say this. I am busy with a project, should one be left after it has been requested not to, don't take offense. There are many contributors and should your name beforegotten, just ask and it will be removed. Don't mean to offend and to receive demands that are mean and hurtful is not how I handle things. In over 9
years on findagrave.com there have been 5 people that have requested this. You can get further in life by being considerate and kind.
And I add this to those that want to sit in judgment of those of us who "Sit Around" on our computers adding memorials. You need to know this. The research put into these memorials are not done with a hap-hazard attitude. The research is done with going through oodles of records, cross-referencing and rechecking data. So get over it. It is our way of contributing and helping those that are not genealogy savvy to have somewhere to start. I do not apology for my memorials. I do not "Own" my memorials. I am a care taker until someone who is family asks for them. Wow, the judgmental sure chaps my hide...
Also, please remember that some of us might have a very good reason for not being able to go out to cemeteries in our areas to photograph headstone so, please be kind and honor our request on your end. I was a "Photo Volunteer" but for the time being it is not something I can easily do...
Many, many thanks to the findagravers that have been so kind and thoughtful over the years....

It looks to me like the Isaiah Parker you have her married to is not the same one on his gravestone photo next to her. Both the birth and death dates are off by months and years.

|Lee Haney||Thank you, thank you, thank you!|
I cannot express how grateful I am to you. I read what you wrote about how some people react to your leaving a death certificate on those pages, but in all honesty, if it wasn't for you I would not have been able to readily locate my 2nd great grandfather James Allen Norris! For far too long I've been concentrating in the wrong location (Harnett & Johnston) for his grave without success, and literally just today I stumbled upon your page for this grave. That death certificate you posted for his entry truly confirmed who he was (because I knew who his father was), & if not for that I probably would've dismissed this grave altogether! For that, I really am appreciative of your taking the extra time & effort. Thank you!
|June Staton Marshall||Family Ties|
Hi Latitia! My name is June and my mother is a Tew, daughter of Orban Letos Tew. I came across this site while researching my Grandfather's date of death, as I had lost it. I appreciate all of the hard work you have done. I'd also like to know where you are in my family tree! My mom couldn't figure it out and we are looking forward to having that anwswered! I live in Wilmington, NC and was out at Bear Lake last year, which is where I think you are near? Sure wish I'd made this discovery before so we could've met! Anyway, I'd love to hear from you and to help update as necessary with info and photos. Thanks!

John Mincey Brown/ Condary Brown
Latisha, Please remove the name and change to Condary Brown the cemetery you have listed as the site of Oscar Marion Brown's burial per this info from Ross Sippel. I personall visited the cemetery myself and he is correct (even though he has added a photo to the cemetery). His message follows my signature. Thanks, Linda
I have seen this before on Find A Grave. Whoever created these cemeteries has merged the names of these into one cemetery John Mincey Brown. The coordinates for Condary Brown are 35.552338,-78.240201 and the coordinates for John Mincey Brown are 35.552292,-78.236192. Close but not the same. The picture of the lady standing next to fence appears to be Condary Brown as you stated close to road way. The John Mincey Brown cemetery is down a private path in a field. I had to get permission from land owner to access the cemetery. In reality they are about 1200 ft apart separated by woods. Takes about 1.1 mile to drive. If you can get the creator of the cemeteries to separate the names and create another cemetery good luck. If I had your email I could send you a Google Earth picture of the two locations. Better yet I have surveyed and photographed both cemeteries in question plus many many others for the the www.johnstoncountygenealogy.org site. This site has listings of over 1200 cemeteries in this county alone. we have done only about 300 cemeteries with pictures of headstone and GPS coordinates along with mapping and satellite views. These cemeteries are both in the Selma Township. That will help narrow down the search. Please let me know if I can answer any further questions. Ross

Ada was my grandma from my mothers side .how are you related to her? Yes it would be nice if you could maintain the memorial thank you. my mom clara Peavy was in North carolina trying to find her moms grave to perhaps put a head stone on it and they said that she was buried in the poor section and they couldn't tell her were exactly her grave was . my mom was only 3 y.o. when her mom Ada was murdered and she has been trying for years to find Ada's brother but I could not find him on ancestry past washington dc i think. are you on ancestry ?

I actually took pictures of all of the headstones (or footstones) and will add them as I have the time. In the meantime, the pictures may be found on the cemetery page of the church website www.blackriverpresbyterianchurch.weebly.com
