I'm a 67 year old native Iowan born, raised, and schooled in Des Moines, Iowa. I served in the United States Navy 1965-1968 stationed in country in the Vietnam War.|
I have volunteered in the past at the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs and did Military Genealogies for the Department since Iowa had some 76,534 men who all served in the American Civil War more than any other state per-capita. Iowa just became a state in 1846. I have since 1996 been working on the Booton/Booten/Hill/Arrowood/Arwood/Little military genealogy trying to find all in the family on both my paternal and maternal sides who have served this great nation in the US Armed Forces. I have served as the Veterans of Foreign Wars State of Iowa Senior Vice Commander 2009-2010 and I'm a Lifetime member of VFW, AMVETS, DAV, PVA Associate Members, and I'm now with Patriot Outreach 'Victory Over Stress'.

|Booton Grand-daughter||Are we related?|
Frank Booton is my Great grandfather, (son of Rev. George M. Booton, 13th Iowa Inf. Civil War).-both are resting at the same cemetery in Mills county, Iowa.
Any information you may have regarding my Grandfather George's service is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

I noticed your name on a memorial to Jackie Cooper and I could not feel some kin ship. My father was from Des Moines and was in the Navy long before either of us was born. Your name caught my eye. My name is Lee Donald Boatwright and Lee Donald is usually not arrangement of those two names. I have meant many Donald Lee's, but you are the first that I have meant as an other Lee Donald and to have relatives from Des Moines.
I too am a Viet Nam Vet. Served in Da Nang Air Bace from June 71 to June 72 in the Air Force. Was always being kidded about last name. "Boatwright" you should have been in the Navy. I would tell them I grew up in Bremerton Washington and wanted nothing to do with ships.
