Hi, I'm Katie! I live in Stayton, Oregon. I love everything history related, especially old cemeteries, houses, barns, books and photos.|
I work full-time and am mom to a teen, tween, and a busy toddler. Please be patient with me! I will get to edits as soon as I can, but am unfortunately not able to process them every day.
My own family names includes the surnames Baptiste, Reid, Bennett, Bales, Fiester, Densford, and Hampton. I am also researching my husband and children's lines, including the surnames Garrison, Follis, Kirsch, Phillips, Mitchell, and Imlah.
I collect antique photographs, particularly those with names on them, and try to match them up with other researchers on Find a Grave or Ancestry.com. It's so much fun to unexpectedly add something to someone else's search and I hope someday karma will return the favor!
On memorials I manage, if myself or my son (Reid) are related I have stated our relationship in the notes section. I would be happy to transfer all others to a member of their family. Please request the transfer through the edit tab and state your relation.
If I add information to a non-related memorial, I state my source. If no source is given, info is from edits from other contributors. Any and all information that I have is already listed on the memorial.
Please feel free to use any gravestone photos that I have posted for your personal genealogical use.

This information was great, thank you. I would like to know how to list her eleven children including my dad.. She was my grandmother although I never had the blessing of meeting her. She passed away way before I was born.
|EZHall||Re. Find A Grave Transfer for Alice Emerine Porter (maiden name: Oliver)|
I think we have a slight mix upon the transfer of the Find A Grave listing of my great-grandmother, Alice Emerine Porter (Find A Grave Memorial #123766013), whose maiden surname was Oliver. She died in 1947.
In fact, we have 2 different but similar women a bit mixed together!
The listing I received was for a different woman, whose married name was Alice E. Cantrel Oliver (Find A Grave Memorial #120965487). She died in 1961. Many things about her life and name are similar to my great grandmother, but she is not the same person.
Some of her burial info was conflated with my relative, and I certainly see how it happened! Her death certificate is given on Find A Grave, and was helpful. She lived in northern Oregon (my gr-grandmother lived in Walla Walla, WA), and both women were buried in the same cemetery: the Mountain View in Walla Walla. According to the death certificate, Mrs. Alice Cantrel Oliver was buried in the IOOF section (the Oddfellows section). My gr-grandmother Alice E. Porter is buried in plot 2-3-10, and her husband Peter Walton Porter (died 1933) is buried beside her in plot 2-3-9.
I followed the lead on Mrs. Cantrel Oliver's death certificate and did some research on plots in the IOOF section. She was buried in Plot 21-10-3, and I have corrected her plot/burial information on Find A Grave accordingly.
I should probably hand her back over to you, with respect, since I do not know the family.
I would still be VERY happy to take over the Find A Grave Memorials for my own great grandparents Alice Emerine Porter (Find A Grave #123766013) and Peter Walton Porter (Find A Grave #123767610). Just to recap, they are buried in plots 2-3-9 and 2-3-10 in the Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla, WA.
I sincerely apologize for taking up your time. I know you are busy, and attend to many genealogical matters for people you do not know.
Thanks for all you do,

Sadly the memorial for Mary's mother, Minirva Wilson, was deleted. I have re-created it, but the link from Mary Julie Spencer Pratt 12381006 was lost. I wanted you to know what happened. The new memorial # for Minerva Wilson is 177250878. I can send an edit if you like that best. I found a great bio on her ancestors that I added.
This is not my ancestor but feel free to transfer the memorial if that is what would be easiest for you.

Thank you so much for transferring a family Findagrave to me.
Very much appreciated.

My sister Theresa was married to the Dan Smith you have record of. They had two boys. We have not seen our sister for almost 36 years or the boys. Do you have any information on them?
|Eileen||RE: Thanks for the photo!!|
You're most welcome, Katie. I was curious too, because the cemetery records also have it as Louis and I had to see for myself as well! Have a great evening! Eileen

Hi Katie: No I'm not related - just saw the memorials while "walking through the online cemetery" in Find a Grave and wondered about their son. So glad to help you - have a great weekend! Thank you for all you do on Find a Grave.

I saw your memorials for William Armour Fiester; his wife Ethel and daughter Harriet Fiester Bales and that they'd also had a son named Joseph. I wondered why there was no info on him, so did some looking in Ancestry. Do you suppose this might be him? The 1920 and 1930 censuses estimate his dob to be about 1913; in 1940, a Joseph W Fiester who was born about 1913 in KS and married, was living at Fort Francis E Warren Military Reservation, Laramie, WY. Then a Joseph W Fiester, born in KS in 1912 living in Pinal county, AZ, enlisted into the Signal Corps of the Army as a Private with enlistment for Alaska. The SSN death index indicated he died in GA as did the GA death index - in Gwinnett County on 07/04/1987. FYI.
