Memorial Day Poem

Two short months have gone, dear Dad, since you have passed away
Yet, most of what you gave to me is still alive today.
Your faith, your love, your strength abide just like a strong oak tree
Because I know, forevermore, you live inside of me.

Dear Mother, ten short years ago, you left this earthly home
Yet, all you said and taught to me still shields me like a dome.
Your care, your smiles, your lessons reign just like a master key
Because I know, forevermore, you live inside of me.

Twenty years have flown, dear Gramps, since I have seen your face.
Yet, all the love you gave to me surrounds me like a brace.
Your caring, thoughtful tenderness dwells like the deep, blue sea
Because I know, forevermore, you live inside of me.

Dear Ancestors, the centuries passed since you walked on this earth
Yet, all your values and your love have found a new rebirth.
Your culture will sustain through time with each new family,
Because I know, forevermore, you live inside of me.

RE: Thank you
I always ask for documentation until I get to know your work. Looks like you and I will get along fine ;)
I've had people come back and question the edits I've made and I honestly don't remember where I got the information for each and every one. Sometimes I can barely remember how to get home after work! LOL! I usually post whatever I have as a picture on the memorial page.
Thanks so much for your help and the info!

RE: More duplicates
There are 2 cemeteries that have been incorrectly joined. I have never been to Passaic County. The cemetery these people should have been listed in are just down the road from where I was living in Morris county. I now regret ever doing any memorials there, due to all of the confusion this has caused. I have contacted FindAGrave in order to try and correct this, but haven't had a response. I'm not removing my memorials until they are listed in the correct cemetery. Every person I have listed should be placed in the correct cemetery in Morris county. I'm not sure what else I can do.

Shew!!! After a lot of researching I finally found the documentation needed to approve your edits :) No need to bother looking! I had a few minutes to spare this afternoon and opened a can of worms....an hour later I finally founded everything!!

Frederick and Margaret Decker edits
Hi Deborah! I didn't see anything on the Decker's memorial to confirm the info you submitted so I was trying to find something to document the edits you requested. I couldn't find a death certificate or birth certificate or Margaret to confirm her info. I was able to find a death certificate for Fred but it appears that they have his POB listed as NJ, not NY. Can you post your documentation to their memorials? I want to make sure I have the right info! Thank you so much!

Edits on Kate DeBaun Williamson
Hi Deborah,
Thanks for your correct suggestions on parent links and name update for Kate... first wife of my great grandfather, Dr A N Williamson. Matches info from my Ancestry.com tree ("Lytle-Williamson Family Tree"). I would like to visit that Nanuet cemetery next time I'm up in that part of the country.
Best regards,
Dave

I do wonder who she was!

Since she was born in Westchester County, I know she has to be related to James with sharing the very same headstone!

Since the 1856 matched with the date of his little girl dying per Requa records, we all assumed this was her until Rockland Cemetery said it was not.

Will have to figure this one out!

Rockland could have those cemetery records incorrect as well!

Hi there Deborah!
Good to see you!

It is always a delight to see you here my good friend!

I was aware of the "Emma Requa" issue and did know that there was an infant Emma Requa who died. From the cemetery records, the parents were in a separate division of the cemetery. When the photos came in, it appeared that all of the family was in one location in a different division and plot.

I had Rockland Cemetery pull their burial records and it does state that Emma was born in Westchester County and was 40 years old.

Been trying to figure out the relationship to my direct line James Requa of this Emma Requa. Both of them died from consumption. Will work on that today. Thanks buddy!
