A Baby Boomer, born on August 9, 1951, now considered a Senior Citizen. That makes me laugh -- I don't feel like a Senior Citizen, but I do take advantage of the discounts! |
I retired from the Sheboygan Police Department on my birthday, August 9, 2013. In July of 2016, my husband and I bought the home I grew up in. We moved in on September 23, 2016. I am so happy to be back in my home town of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin.
My only child, Rebecca Rose, suffered and died of leukemia when she was "almost five." It's true when they say, you can't understand the pain and grief of losing a child unless you have experienced it yourself. How I wish Find A Grave had been around in 1983 when Becky passed away. Find A Grave has been a true comfort and a blessing to me personally. Such wonderful people I have met here!
My husband is Daniel. We married on September 4, 1999. He is a retired Technical Sergeant of the United States Air Force. He has two wonderful adult daughters from a previous marriage, Melina and Sally. I have two wonderful son-in-laws, Melina's husband Wil, and Sally's husband Chris. I am also a step-grandmother to Liam and Mila, but Sally corrects me and says I'm just grandma, forget the step. Melina and Wil are the parents of Priscilla and Moises. This is a joy I thought I'd never experience -- being a grandmother to four beautiful children!
Note: THANK YOU to all the kind people who have left notes and/or flowers on the sites of my loved ones. I believe that every time someone leaves a message, the person it was intended for knows that you are thinking of them, which is very comforting to me.

"Hello From Lori
I am so happy to leave YOU a note! The very first time I saw and read your father's Find A Grave memorial, my heart was touched beyond words. The photographs made me feel even closer to you all. My favorites are of your wedding, and then you wearing your wedding dress on your 25th anniversary! And also, your father standing on the shore, preaching to all the boats. What a wonderful man! Through you, his memory lives on.
Happy Valentine's Day to you, a very special lady!

Oh my, alot has happened! After 34 years of marriage, we divorced (should have done it after I found out what was going on at the seventeenth year of it) but, I kept trying to live up to my vows; obviously, they meant nothing to my former husband. In 2009, I retired, relocated and remarried. I had to disable my messages because my email and other messaging got so overpowered by people (especially lookinig for their family members even though I specifically indicated I was NOT related). My taking care of my elderly Mom (who has since died) was far more important than dealing with the dead.
I appreciate your aforementioned message, it was so lovely for you to take the time.
I do not plan to be active as I was on Findagrave at this time. I found 2004 files that I am quadruple checking which include photos of tombstones 99 percent I had already place within, but before deletion, I want to make sure they are indeed on f.a.g.
Fondest regards from four blocks from The Gulf of Mexico where the weather is far more favorible than The Catskill Mountains of New York.
