I want to thank everyone who has stopped by to say hi and leave flowers on many of my memorials, particularly my family and friends, that means so much to read all the nice notes you leave and then to be able to go visit your loved ones and read their stories. |
If any info I provide here is incorrect, or you can provide more info for me to add to a memorial page, I will be more than happy to do so.

Well darn! I forgot to add my mom's (Barbara Shirley) Find A Grave Memorial # to my message.
Now that I am starting to post family memorials & just became a volunteer to take photos....I noticed something on my mother's memorial page. It's not a big deal.
Could you add next to Burial:
Cremated, Ashes given to family or friend. Eventually we will take mom & dad's ashes to Hooper & Weaver.
Mom's middle name was Jean & you have her maiden name correct....Hanley.
7 months after you helped me fix an error on mom's memorial, my father passed away. I added a family spouse link to include my father. He passed away last November.
Thank you!! Eileen

Hi, Kellybee --
I believe that Lydia Ann Dressler's husband, James Miles, is buried in the LaBorde Cemetery, Gretna, Sarpy County, NE (memorial 44230875). As you know, after Lydia died, James married Mary Jane Keller about 1867 probably in Clearfield County, PA, where they had 8 children: Amy Emmaline, Catherine Ann, Lydia Ann, Lillian Esther, Lucille Matilda, James Adam, Olive May, and Jeremiah Sylvester Miles.
James and Mary moved to Sarpy County, NE, sometime between Aug 1883 (when Jeremiah Sylvester was born in PA) and Oct 1884 when James died in Gretna, NE, and was buried there. In "Gretna Heritage, American Revolution Bicentennial, 1776-1976," a booklet about its pioneers, which talks about James and Mary's daughter, Catherine Ann, who married Thomas Jefferson Long (both buried in LaBorde Cemetery), it states, "Kate Long came to Gretna with her parents along with the group of Pennsylvania Dutch, who came here as early settlers. She was a small girl when the Burlington Railroad began building its short line between Ashland and Omaha," and it expands about Kate and her mother's fairly hard life in Gretna after James died. They did laundry for the railroad men and Kate had to stand on a box to reach the tub.
Mary J. Miles is listed in the NE 1885 State census and the US censuses from 1900 through 1920--haven't found them in the 1880 census.
James' parents, Jeremiah and Mary Magdaline (Rishel) Miles had already moved to Cuming County, NE, sometime between Oct 1860 and Feb 1870 when Jeremiah died.
Hope this helps.

Thank you so much Kelli!

Eugenia is buried at Redmen's Cemetery in Grass Valley. I removed my entry. Please change her burial location. Thanks. (I added her headstone marker to your memorial).
Hello, I made a suggestion via the EDIT. The sources for the updates are the 1900 Census which gives her month/year of birth/location & the CA Death Index. Could you please also connect her to her husband; Memorial# 14120034
Thank you for your help. Sincerely, Eve

Thank you Kelly, I appreciate your kindness. You must be a GV or NC girl. My parents lived in Cedar Ridge for 27 years. My mother owned and operated Norma's Hair Affair beauty salon in Cedar Ridge. She worked well into her late seventies. She was well liked in the community.
Good to hear from you and again, thank you for your information.
