Note: Information about Jacob and Mary Stauffer Varnes and some of their descendants has been taken from the following family history:
THE GENEALOGY OF THE JACOB LEIGHTY FAMILY OF FAYETTE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA by Floyd H. Leighty, Sr., Jan. 1980.

Special thanks to Julie Oliver for recording tombstone information at Bethel Christian Church near Anabel, MO, which has been used in some of the memorials.

Records of Ken O'Neal have been invaluable in creating memorials in East Liberty Presbyterian Cemetery in Vanderbilt, PA.

Elizabeth Ellsberry's Cemetery Records of Macon Co., MO, 1963, has been a great help for memorials in Macon Co., MO.

I try to follow the FAG guidelines concerning obituaries.

The question of initials in proper names has recently come up. I am trying to follow the FAG guidelines of using a period after a middle initial: "Concerning punctuation in proper names, always use normal English rules, such as always use a period after a Middle Initial."

RE: James Sunderland
Thanks for removing the duplicate memorial. Better to have two than none.

Joseph Surber 1749
I think there is an error regarding the children of Joseph Surber and the second wife Mary Ann Stevens! His first wife Margaret Elizabeth Coursey did not die until 1799, the two children listed for the second marriage are also listed in the first marriage!

Billy Gene Winkler
The Billy Gene Winkler #31463739 is not the Bill Gene Winkler #122428333 that was married to my aunt Ruby Byrd Winkler #106102178 That may have been my fault as her obit that I copied the info from had his name as Billy...I have now changed that to Bill.

Don't know if I can, just hate jumping thru hoops on the .com site. Thought I would give it a try. Now the lady that has the 1st Memorial, really has my interest and am trying to reach out to her. I positively know of her Moore heritage!

Cross your fingers!

Hello again
Yes, I agree, this is a duplicate. But here lies the problem, I cannot delete the memorial because it was created by another person. What I will however do is see if I can have them merged and honor Gayles Memorial. Cross your fingers!

Thank You...
It is my dads last sibling :(, Joyce Virginia Moore Stuck. Mt Salem is my Family Cemetery. Stuck is from the Cairo area. When I first went to Mt Salem Cemetery and even met Martha Helen (Caretaker of the cemetery) There was such a pull to it. So she handed over the church books and for the next 2 years I recensused the cemetery and attempted a really intensive research on each and everyone in there. My goal was to see just how much family is there. I did prove that 90% are related. My 3rd Great grandfather was the Original one to start the Church, under the cotton woods trees :) about 1836. As soon as I can get things to settle down here I will get on the 2 ladys and figure out who is who, actually look forward to it. I do appreciate you bringing it to my attention, Thank You...

Henrietta Rice #132993680
Greetings.

I kindly request transfer of the above noted memorial to me. She is my maternal ggggrandmother. I wish to update and include on her bio the names of ALL her children and add a brief and honorable obituary so that living family members can find them on Find A Grave. I do have many records, as well as family letters and bibles which support any information I will add. I am confident that by adding extensive information to her memorial, it will open doors for those researching the Rice family.

I thank you in advance for your consideration of my request.

Sincerely,

Juliann King
