I have always had an interest in family history & genealogy. Several years ago I actively engaged in discovering my "roots", and joined Find A Grave in 2011 as part of my discovery process. I have benefited from the labors of others and decided to pay it forward by becoming a contributor to the Find A Grave website with a desire to help others locate the final resting places of their ancestors. |
I am happy to transfer a memorial per Find A Grave Guidelines, or make any corrections or updates to a specific memorial as needed. Please send your request(s) using the EDIT button on the respective memorial.
I spend many hours tracking info, obits, family connections, etc., when I post a memorial for someone and try not to post a memorial with just a date of birth and a date of death. I take a personal interest in each memorial and endeavor to treat that person as if they were my "family". It is never my intention to offend anyone and I do my best to never duplicate a memorial. Please accept my contribution to Find A Grave as it is intended; to "Preserving The Past" with a sincere heart toward the legacy and memory of a person or their family.
ON A PERSONAL NOTE: I am the "Grammy" of three precious grandchildren. My daughter and three little grandchildren are my "cemetery search" assistants. They love going with me to locate grave markers. My daughter and six year old grandson, who loves photography, assist me by helping to take the photo's and my other grandchildren tag along for the "adventure". It is great seeing the interest they are showing in the effort to help others find their ancestors.
**My oldest daughter, Amanda, went to her heavenly home on October 24, 2006. She was a new bride of only three weeks and three days, (home one week from her honeymoon) when she lost her life in a car accident. Please take a moment and visit her memorial page; ~ AMANDA RENEE ~ Thank you and God Bless You and Yours!
"Because we know the Lord Jesus, death is not the end. It is merely as if I went to sleep in the adjacent room.
I go on being me, and you go on being you, and we go on being the same to one another.
Talk to me as you once did, speaking as you did before.
Go on smiling as if I were still here. Think of me, pray for me and ensure my name is always spoken in a natural manner, without shadows surrounding it.
Death is a part of life and I still go on in your heart, even when you do not see me, I will always be by your side.
Until we meet again ~ life must go on and all will be well."

|Carol Darrow||Joseph P. Polston (1816-1864)|
Memorial #100162175 for Joseph P. Polston links him as a son of Andrew Polston and Jane Milligan and as the father of John Henry Polston (Memorial #100145776). This is incorrect. Joseph Polston, the son of Andrew Polston, is listed in the 1850, 1860 AND 1870 censuses (alive and well) with his wife Elizabeth (Carroll).
The Joseph Polston buried on Oct. 11, 1864 was the husband of Laura ( ) Hoover Polston. He married her in Spencer County, Indiana, in 1862 (she was Mrs. Laura Hoover). Laura filed for a widow's pension stating that her husband had died on Oct. 11, 1864 and the widow's pension file contains a copy of the handwritten note from Lt. James Cart dated Oct. 21, 1864 informing her of his death at the Clay General Hospital in Louisville.
Later communications with Laura by the Pension Office were sent to Henderson County, Kentucky, where she was living at the time of the 1870 U.S. census.
Will you please unlink Joseph P. Polston from the Andrew Polston-Jane Milligan line as well as the John Henry Polston line (Memorial #100145776).

I am a Vermont Civil War buff, and am working on a project to identify the last resting place of many of our "Old Soldiers" with Vt. ties. Charles B. Hinds is one such patriot, with Grafton, Vt. beeing the town of his roots. I am asking you if I may use the photo you contributed to his Find A Grave memorial, to post on the Vermont Civil War site? ( www.vermontcivilwar.org)
You will receive credit for this' Thank you for your consideration.
May God Be With You.

Regarding Find A Grave # 115187605. The listing indicates that William P. Davis's father was Captain Joseph Davis. Mat I ask where the "Captain" part is related to? I have been trying to research Joseph Davis for quite some time but I never have found a military record for him. Will you help me out with that?
By the way William P. Davis married a Jane Levels according to Ancestry.com but they do not offer a date or Town for the marriage they indicate occurred in Pennsylvania.
Thank you for any help with the Captain.

Louis is my 7GGF. I was wondering where you found the information on his burial at Morgan's Chapel? I contacted the diocese and they had no records of the early church. I live in the area and would love to get my hands on anything you could direct me towards. I stopped there once but it was snowy and cold, so I didn't stick around too long. Any help or direction you could give would be very much appreciated.

I find this very odd, that Arden McClanahan has the same birth and death dates. How is this? Thanks for your help.

|Diana Zu||Harvey Joel Blacklidge|
I was doing some research on my family and read a comment you left on the grave of Delilah Young Blacklidge that she was Harvey's first wife. Did Harvey have a second wife and if so do you know who she was by chance? He is listed as only having one wife on my family tree so I would love to update things if that isn't correct. Thank you ever so much for all of your help.
