I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI. Spent 12 years in California and moved back to MI. My husband just recently got a job with a NASCAR team in Kannapolis, North Carolina. I am the only daughter of John and Sarah Lomakoski. I have been researching my family history for 14 years now. The family names are: |
Father's Side: (Michigan, Quebec, Russia & Poland)
Mother's Side: (Kentucky, Virginia, Prince Edward Island & Pennsylvania)
My father passed away on Feb. 16, 1999. I needed some kind of memorial for him. I was happy I found Find A Grave. This gives me an opportunity to leave messages and flowers for him since his grave is in Michigan. My father use to play for the Detroit Lions in the early 1960's. His memorial is in the Famous Graves.

Beth, I was a college friend of your dad at WMU. I left college after two years, and lost contact with John.
Recently, while talking football with my stepson, I mentioned your dad and the many successes he had on the football field. (I was always so proud to know him) Yesterday we looked him up on the internet to discover he had passed away. I was saddened to find this out. Your dad was a great guy!
God bless you and your family.
Hi Beth -
After your nice comment we had to look your Dad up. I guess we already knew him because as loyal Lions fans my family watched every game - including the ones your Dad played in. Then when we saw you asked for his memorials to go to "Focus on the Family" - well, that told us what a special Dad he was and how much he really cared for people.
God bless you, Beth, and your wonderful Dad - we'll make a point to pay our respects the next time we're in Kalkaska.
- Buck & julie
