I started working on my family tree in 1978 when my mother got me involved in helping her do research. I am now retired and have more time to spend doing genealogy.
About 5 years ago I discovered Find-A-Grave and have been hooked ever since.
My main focus is on the families of Valentine, Virnig, Faust, Maiette, Clourate, Swain, Roots, Jolley, Powell, Fairfax, Gillam and their extended families.
I also have extended roots in the founding families from Nantucket Island including, Swain, Barnard, Macy, Coffin, Gardner and Mills.
I find old cemeteries fascinating, every old cemetery has it's own unique personality, unlike new cemeteries that are laid out in neat little rows with flat headstones.
So much family history can be found in old cemeteries.
Every grave has a story behind it and a story to tell.
Feel free to use any photos that I have posted, for non commercial use only. (Your personal family trees and Ancestry.com are OK)
Please DO NOT repost my photos on Find-A-Grave as your own.
I was very fortunate to have many family photos passed along to me, I have posted family photos to share with extended family members that were not fortunate enough to have these photos.
Feel free to use and copy "Family Photos", I have posted them to share with extended family members.
Please use the "EDIT TAB" on each individual page when requesting changes, additions, links, or transfers.
I will gladly transfer any memorial that is not part of my family.
Please do not make duplicate memorial pages!
Duplicate pages really mess up the linking process!
Search the name you are looking for before making a page, if the page already exists request a transfer!
=================== 'HTML' ===================
Find-A-Grave pages will except 'Limited HTML' promps.
You can use standard BOLD opening and closing promps to add Bold words.
You can use standard LINK opening and closing promps to add links to your pages.
You can use standard Italics opening and closing promps to add Italics text to your pages.
To change the Size of the columns use a row of = signs in the first line of copy in the Bio section.
Example, to make larger Bio. Copy space with smaller photos.
Size and Color promps do not work...

Have changed his cemetery from Fairmount to Greenwood Mem Terrace as suggested. Thank you for letting me know. - Sue Armstrong

We appreciate you 'going the distance' on our photo request for this memorial.
We'll have to do more research on his burial - it was a presumption that he was buried in the same cemetery as his ex-spouse. Being a POW veteran, he may be buried in a local military cemetery (however, a search of the VA database was inconclusive - maybe you know the area better than us and can provide a suggestion). In the interim, we will change his burial location to 'unknown'.
Your contributory efforts are very appreciated!
Regards and best wishes,

Wow did You try!!! Thank You for walking the extra mile for me.
Gonna have to re-think this. It sounded like they were a prominent couple and would have been buried locally. But, I guess not.
Her pioneering gypsy family must have had a say so in where she was to be buried. I will have to really think about that.
By the way, the maiden name of her mother is Evilsizer. That is the family of my husband's great grandmother. Sure like the last name of "Valentine" better.
Thank You for your kindness.
Until we meet again,
Bonnie Shirley Amery

Thank you for your photo of Leola' grave marker. I have informed the manager of Leola' memorial to add the missing parts of the b/d dates that your photo shows.

Oh, please search for Cousin Lois.
Been looking long time for Lois and her siblings and her parents. She is the last. They all traveled far from Missouri and we lost track of them.
My, I am hoping you find this girl.

Thank you very much for the photo. I didn't expect a marker to exist. It looks like it took a bit of work to get the photo. On behalf of the family many thanks.

Thank you for the close up view of Ren H. Rice's marker and for the outstanding photo of his memorial as a vista view. Absolutely lovely. I feel like I have been there with stone slab flooring and evergreen forest view. What a gift. Thank You!
I am troubled that Cousin Lois (Gibson) Rice, his wife, does not seem to be buried nearby. She was born 1895+/- in Oklahoma and would have died before 1945 in Washington.
Do you have any ideas for locating her?

Thanks so much for the very nice photos of Mary Staplekamp's memorial. I really do appreciate it.
