Thaddeus and Mary (Twitchell) Rood
This couple are my great-great-great-great grandparents. They are also the grandparents of the subject of my book. They are not buried in the same cemetery. I visited Mary's grave (and other family members) in Hilltop Cemetery, Plainfield, Mass. a couple years ago on a trip out east (we are from Upper Michigan). This Thaddeus (her husband) is buried in Northwest Cemetery in nearby Ashfield. His name appears on a common stone for "Names of Persons Buried in this Cemetery" and his last name is spelled 'Rude', different from his wife and son Josiah Foster Rood. It is one of the few stones I have come across with that spelling and is a bit of a mystery. I enjoy the heck out of this family stuff as well. I do have Family Group Sheets on generations going back to Thomas Rood, great-great grandfather of the above Thaddeus if you are interested. Thaddeus was a popular family name.

Rood memorials
Marilyn- thanks for your comments. I would be interested in figuring our 'distant' relationship. I have a Rood geneology book with lots of information. If there is a Rood back in your line, I'm sure they are in the book. Since I set up this account, I have completed a book of my own. It is on my namesake, David Alfred Rood, a missionary to South Africa from 1848-1888. I am anxiously waiting to hear from a publisher in Petermaritzburg whether they will publish it or not. It has been an exciting journey.
