My objective in creating (and/or managing) a memorial is simple – it is to honor the person's life, no matter how short or long a period of time that individual lived. If working with genealogy has taught me nothing else, it has taught me that life is a precious gift, not to be wasted. |
If I have a memorial for someone who has recently died, and you are a family member who objects to it, let me know & I will delete the memorial.
Please send requests for additions, corrections, linking, and transfers through the system FAG provides using the "Edit" tab in the upper right-hand corner of the memorial.
~~~EDITS: As of 2013, when you submit an addition or correction, please include the LINK to the OFFICIAL source, so that I can personally confirm the information (unless the submitted edit information is visible on a posted gravestone photo or is mentioned in the memorial's BIO, showing that I have already researched it). The link must be accessible to anyone. No Exceptions. Any edit must be substantiated before the edit will be made. If there is no way to contact you in order to request your source (such as you have your messages disabled and no email address), I will be forced to decline your edit. A family tree is NOT official; the source needs to be an official document or published book. The source name will be posted to the memorial. I am unable to accept information from Ancestry.com as a substantiating source as the information on the site is not always accurate & cannot be accessed by non-members. If information cannot be substantiated, the edit request will be declined. In order to send substantiating information for your edits, use the "suggest any other correction or addition" link.~~~ Please Note: I do not use birthdates or death ages from death records/certificates, as the older records are frequently wrong, in my experience.**
NOTE: From F.A.G. ADMIN concerning edits:
"You are allowed, and encouraged, to require official documentation when considering edit requests".
Unfortunately there are members who resent this desire for accuracy and send harassing, offensive messages; those messages will be forwarded immediately to F.A.G. admin.~~~
F.A.G. transfer policy: Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. State your exact relationship, please. If you are seeking transfers to "have all my family together", use the virtual cemetery option.
I'm sorry, but I don't link to unknown burials.
I am happy to post information from an obituary that will enhance the memorial in the BIO section of a memorial.
The sources I post on the memorials I manage are accessible to anyone wishing to confirm them, as I use the free website www.familysearch.org for official document copies or online books for information.
Please do NOT leave biographical information and obituaries in a virtual flower. That is what the "edit" tab is for. This is against findagrave.com policy.
****Please do not post a death certificate, obituary, or anything else in the "photo section" except for person photos or photos of the gravestone.****
FOR GRAVESTONE PHOTOS THAT I HAVE TAKEN, PLEASE BE SURE TO CLICK ON THE PHOTO & THEN CLICK A SECOND TIME & THEN A THIRD. THE PHOTO WILL ENLARGE & PROVIDE A CLOSE-UP.
Thanks and I had forgotten when I had sent you Munson edits last year to let you know my source. I am now working on the Scoville Family Record by Charles R. Eastman 1910. I have it saved as a pdf or it's on ancestry.com. I can email it to you if you would like.
thanks for the update!!!!
I got your email that mentioned maybe her death was 1851 instead of 1861. I wouldnt think there would be a divorce either. I know his death record said he was married in 1867. I never thought of a second wife, so that is very interesting. I will try looking some more and see if I can find anything. Denise.
Thank you so much for her death year. I have been searching everywhere! Her husbands DR said he was still married when he died in 1867. All I could find was the Natick VR saying she was buried there but no death date cause the records stop in 1849. Thank you again I have added it. Denise.
Greetings! I sent the rather lengthy source material through the "other" info on the edit tab per your request. Thank you!
Thank you for your quick response!
I wondered if that might be the case! I've had this happen in my own family as well. Thank you for looking into this and sorting it all out :)
Thanks for all the work you have done on Find A Grave. It is impressive, and helps so many people. I am only distantly related to this person, but turned him up in researching my Jackson Line. Don't worry. I will delete my edits or you can decline them. Not a problem.
thanks for catching the typo. Her birth year was not correct, I have changed it. And thank you for sending along sources for Edward as well.
Hi Allison, Thank you for your improvements to my cousin's memorial. I at first did not understood why you needed documentation for his parents. Now that I see your additions, I appreciate you taking the time to validate and document. I wished you managed all my family's memorials! Lynda
