My Book the "History of 318 Field Hospital", 442 pages, is available online ( With the help of many, you will read the real life first hand account of the soldiers who went to war in France during 1918-1919.

I completed the book on my grandfather's WWI, 318th Field Hospital, 305th Sanitary Train, 80th Division. I could still use some assistance finding the remaining 10 unit members (listed below). So far I have found 82 soldiers - see my virtual cemetery. Please email me if you confirm a burial location of any of the ten:

Sergeant Jack G. Bernstein (Burnstein), 361 Levania (Livonia) Avenue, Brooklyn, New York. Lived in an area commonly called Brownsville. Born about 1893. He enlisted in Ft. Slocum, NY on Mar 21, 1914. He was discharged on Jul 12 1919 - furlough to reserve. His father was Paul Burnstein and mother Minnie Burnstein, both of Romania (Russia). Some brothers/sisters are Guisse, Joe, Ida, and Herman. Private Antonio De Santiss (DeSantis), 220 or 330 Lancaster St., Leominster, Massachusetts. Born in Italy. His brother is likely Christoforo DeSantis. (See Find A Grave Memorial# 166381847)
1st Sergeant William B. Duncan, Box 114, Waldo, Arkansa. Should be born around 1870-1890.
Private James Hartley, 253 W. 23rd St., born Trinidad and Tobago, Oct 10, 1890. Enlisted on Jun 10, 1917. Promoted to PFC on Mar 4, 1919. Discharged Jun 9, 1919. He died Mar 14, 1982. Last known residence: Massapequa, Nassau County, NY. I requested the NY Death Certificate but the State won't let me see it and returned my check!! (See Find A Grave Memorial# 166080252)
Private John Thomas Jenick, Greensburg, Pennsylvania. John Jenick, born Nov 19, 1895. Wife was Margaret Forgach Jenick, children: Florence, Margaret, John, and Robert. Father was Jacob Jenick and mother, Mary Jeneski Jenick. In 1934 he lived at 9173 Girardin St., Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. He died on Nov 10, 1977 in Garden City, Wayne County, Michigan. PFC John L (Lewis) Leonardi, 320 East 45th St., New York City, NY, born Feb 10, 1895. He also lived at 343 (& 338) East 47th Street, NY at one time. (See Find A Grave Memorial# 166380468)
Private J. Washington Robinson, 3924 N. 16th St., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Person of same name, born about 1892, married to Anna Marie Robinson.
He was born May 16, 1888 in Philadelphia. In 1934 he resided at Southwest corner of Wayne Ave & Johnson Street. He lived at 5407 Chestnut Street at entry in service. He parents are buried in Mount Peace Cemetery (Roswell Andres Robinson & Louise Marie (Herbert) Robinson); children in 1934 were Anna Marie Robinson (12)and Frances M Robinson (18). Private Harry Strohm Shaak, 4634 N. 11th St., Philadelphia; 7305 North 21st Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. born Jun 27, 1889. His wife was Carlina (Martinez) Shaak. Children in 1934 were Jane and Antoinette Shaak. His father was Frank W. Shaak and mother, Elizabeth Shaak. He resided at 7305 No. 21st Street, Philadelphia in 1934. Private William C.(Carl) Tecklenburg, 1947 Church Lane, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania born July 17, 1892 & died Jun 1970. Wife - Helen P. Wear (married in 1919). In 1917 he worked at the United Shoe Machinery Company at 211 North 13th st. In 1934 his children were Florence (11) and Helen (9). His father was William Tecklenburg and mother Mary Platz Tecklenburg. His father is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Philadelphia. (See

Major (Dr.?) H.E. Wheelock, whose unit address was "Madison Hotel, Chicago, Illinois." He is not Harold Ezra Wheelock of Rock Island Arsenal near Chicago. He is not Dr. Harry Elmer Wheelock who went to Camp Oglethorpe Ga., and practiced in New York.
