Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been interested in genealogy since 2004. I am retired and live in Gambrills, Maryland. My main genealogy interests are in Western Maryland and S. Central Pennsylvania. My wife is also involved in her genealogy in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. We visit cemeteries to find our ancestors' stones and markers. I enjoy photographing the monuments.

Main families of interest are Minnich (Minich), Keefauver, Lemen, Harsh and Stone, Craig, Lydic, and Buterbaugh. Others are Johnston, Swonger, Lloyd, and Miner.

If I have made a duplicate, please contact me and it will be deleted quickly. Use edit button to add corrections. Also, since only five free photo spots per memorial are allowed in findagrave, please do not add unnecessary photos to any memorials. Save room for future personal photos from family. Unnecessary photos include close-up photos of the plot number on markers and the cemetery plot signs. The plot number should be entered in the Bio plot section of the memorial not as a picture. Obituaries should be typed in the Bio sect and not added as photos. Transfers may be made if you ask using the EDIT button and also state relationship. You have my permission to use my grave stone / marker photos for your private use. For any use of my family or my rescue-orphan photos please contact me. Hopefully, you will source or link the photos. It never hurts to give someone credit for helping you.

I have been purchasing "orphan-rescue" antique photos with names sufficient to search and find a 'home' for them. Some success has been had. There are photo albums of Hellyers (Seneca F., etc. - PA) and Hopkins (Arthur, Lewis, etc.) that are awaiting family. Please visit my Rescue-Orphans Virtual Cemetery.

A free site to check certain years of Maryland State Archives for death certificate index is

This site is a hodge-podge but you can search Baltimore city and the counties for individuals. It has just name and death date and whether death was in Baltimore City or a county. Sometimes the counties have age. Good Luck. I have been using this site to upgrade entries in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Useful tools - Battery-powered string trimmer, non-flexible putty knife, grout brush, towels, gallon of water to enhance inscriptions, digital camera - Canon SX160 IS.

I will try to be a friend to all and will help where possible.

Findagrave is as good as we make it.

George and Anna Myers at Cedar Hill Cemetery
Thank you so much for taking the photos. The grave one for George and the plot for Anna.
They are my 3rd Great Grandparents on my maternal side.
George's stone was once standing. I have no idea why it was knocked down or appears to have been buried for that matter. That's most likely why I could not find it when I was down there a few years ago. And at the time the cemetery was no help. Again thank you.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend and a amazing holiday.

Orphan-rescue antique photos
A noble enterprise. I find these at thrift stores or stuck in used books and try to do the same thing.
In my last message, Gavib = Gavin.
I was slammed by a driver going over 55mph while I was cycling and typing is a chore. Recovering from paraplegia, left side was busted up but I am at home in recovery therapy.

Congratulations on finding the images of these two! Excellent images. Details about these people can be found at RootsWeb Worldconnect, Family Trees, database: sssfp_ar.
Unfortunately, many of the mems posted at Find A Grave have simply copied or poorly interpreted material from a source by W John Slayton that contains unconfirmable guessed names such as MURFIELD and some preposterous conflating of my family lineage Albemarle Co VA) from one line with another from Arthur & Rachel Slayden (Goochland, Louisa), this is true of Bragg-Stauffer and Gavib, but that is certainly not true of Soper-Brown.

RE: Hellyers - Ginnelly photos
Hi Mike... Sarah Fell Hellyer Ginnelley was not listed on find a grave so I went ahead and created a memorial for her and linked her to her husband. Her number is 180687559 if you would be so kind to upload your photo there...

Also I'm working on gathering the numbers for the other folks and have broken them down into to family units. Some of the names you listed are the same person (daughter's maiden names and also their married names, for instance.. Ella Hellyer is also Ella Martindelle, she was the daughter of Seneca) so I will gather the family units together with their memorial numbers and get back to you..

Oh and you mentioned that you had a business card for Dr. Josiah Hellyer, the dentist, with a photo on it??.. I haven't been able to locate his place of burial yet, but would really love to see the photo of him.. he was the brother of Sarah Hellyer Ginnelley, and he had some financial troubles circa 1900 where all of his properties & assets were seized and sold at a sheriff's sale.. hmmm.. I wonder if that's how that photo album ended up in an antique store.. I can't understand someone just discarding it.. I would think the descendants would have cherished such a thing had it ever been in their possession.. Oh well.. I may never know the circumstances.. I'm just thankful you rescued them.. So in the meantime, while I search for his last resting place, do you think you could load his photo to Sarah's memorial just for a day or two and then remove it after I've seen it?? The anticipation is killin' me.. lol..

Thanks again Mike..

RE: Ginnelley pictures
Hi Mike.. I spoke with you some time ago regarding the Ginnelly rescue photo album and I've found that Sarah F. Hellyer Ginnelly was the sister to Seneca Hellyer and dau of Josiah & Catharine Cress Hellyer.

I haven't checked find a grave yet for her memorial but a record on Ancestry states that she is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Sooo I will check that out.

I would love to see the rest of those photos now that I have been able to connect the folks you mentioned to my Stover branch.

I'll get back to you as soon as I have some memorial numbers for you to upload your photos to.

Thank you so much for rescuing those pics and taking the time to share them. I am grateful for your efforts.
