When I was very young I always wanted to know just "who I was" My parents divorced when I was under 4 years of age, so I had no knowledge of my father's side.

I started doing family research in the mid 1980's. So many family members had passed away so getting information has been a struggle.

I post obituaries of my family and any connected to them, or some just to help others looking for their roots. I am always happy to help.

In 1989 I bought an old 1970's scrapbook at a flea market that contained many obituaries of San Saba County Texas. When the cemetery is named I am posting them to Find-A-Grave.

I started collecting obituaries of my school friends back in the 1950's and have been posting them also.

I was born and raised in Conroe, Montgomery County, Texas, went to school there until 1952 when my family moved to Houston. I attended and graduated from S.F. Austin in 1954. I was a proud member of the Scottish Brigade Drill Team in company "C".

My first job was at the Crighton Theater in Conroe when I was only 15 years of age. I worked the door taking tickets. Over the year I was moved to the concession counter and eventually I was the evening and night cashier. When we moved to Houston (Denver Harbor area) I worked at the Globe and Venus Theaters. In 1953 I went to work for Spiegel's Department Store in downtown Houston in the children's department. I worked on Monday nights and Saturdays. After graduation I was offered a position in the credit billing department. In December 1954 I accepted the job of traveling credit manager trainer to 5 states for Spiegel's. My territories were Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri. I met many interesting people and saw many wonderful places along the way and had the time of my life seeing so many places and taking photos. I remained with Spiegel's until the chain was sold to the Darling Company. Darling Company did not have a credit department so that department was phased out and all employees were let go.

My family names I am researching are: ASHMORE,BEAN,BROWN,CARLISLE,CRAWFORD,GREGG,HEMPHILL,LANG,MIDKIFF, NOBLES, PERRY,SMITH, STOVALL,TURNER,WEST,WIGGINS AND YOUNG ~~ my Bean's and Midkiff's came to Texas in 1825, my Turner's and Lang's in 1850 and my Gregg's and Hemphill's came after the Civil War.

My husband's family names are: ADAMS,BALDWIN, BAXTER, BROOKS, CEARLEY, CHESHIRE, DONAHO, HOWELL, KIRKPATRICK, MCCORMICK, WALKER, AND WHITE ~~ my Cearley's came to Texas in the 1850's, the Walker's in 1860 and the Donaho's in the 1820's. My McCormick's came from Ireland to The United States (New York) in 1829. James McCormick married in New York , and had 5 children. After the death of his wife he placed the children (ages 15, 13, 11, 6, and 4) with the Pleasant Hills Shakers in Mercer County, Kentucky and left for California in 1852 and become Sheriff of Placer County, serving 8 years.

My earliest known Walker was Benjamin Burch Walker, born in 1753 in Colonial Maryland.

Our children's family names are ANDERSON and SANSOM
