Find-a-Grave rocks! |
Please suggest a correction on a specific memorial using the Edit tabs. I welcome edits even if it's just a GPS, plot number, marker transcription or middle/maiden name etc. I like complete memorials.
I've lived in Massachusetts my whole life. Since 1988 I've been interested in my genealogy. I'm 25% Scottish, 12.5% Irish but I mostly descend from English families who came here 300-400 years ago. My immigrant ancestor, with the same last name, came to Massachusetts in the 1630's from France supposedly. I don't consider my self French, however, because it was so long ago and his genes have been watered down so much over the past 400 years.
If I did not have to work I would grow a big bushy red beard and buy a house with a porch. On that porch I would rock back and forth in my rocking chair, sporting a bad-ass kilt whilst learning to play the bag pipes....until I gave up 10 minutes later from being terrible at it.
If I was retired I would definitely travel the great continental 48 states in an RV searching out the historic landmarks of the USA. Revolutionary and Civil War battlefields would be on the list of places to visit. A 7th great-grandfather of mine was Gen. Artemas Ward (1727-1800.)
THE DOORS "The End"
Don't let me die in an automobile
I wanna lie in an open field
want the snakes to suck my skin
want the worms to be my friends
want the birds to eat my eye
as here I lie
the clouds fly by
Let me know if you need a transfer if you can add more bio info. Hope everyone gets out there and photographs some stones - that is the main reason this site exists. Thanks.
***SORRY, I DO NOT LINK TO RELATIVES THAT DO NOT HAVE A BURIAL LOCATION. This is Find-a-GRAVE after all. (There are some exceptions of course: scattered ashes and the like, but even then, there could be a headstone somewhere.) There doesn't have to be a memorial for every person that ever lived on Earth. Ancestry.com is good for that.****
Found this inscribed on a stone in Warwick, Ma.:
"Low in the ground my bed is made,
here in the dark alone I'm laid.
Depart my friends and let me rest,
I'm weary of this wilderness."
Found this on a find-a-grave profile:
Old Bones' profile poem"
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

Hello Ryan, I asked you for a grave phot for my great aunt and uncle a few years ago,I was revisiting this family in my ancestry notes and couldn't remember the outcome of the request. They are buried in Notre Dame Cemetery in Gardner section F, plot 70, graves 1 & 2. They may be with their son Raymond and his wife Yvette. Can I ask you for a photo again? Thanks.

The photo of Francis does not look like him. I can provide his and his wife Anna if you'd like.

Hi, Caught up with your msg on Francis and Anna Landry. Francis has the correct dates, I believe. Please check and get back to me if there are changes I need to make.
Are you related in some way to the Landry's?.
|Norm D||Domitilde Porier|
I have done a TON of research on the Poirier family (take a look at Odillon Poirier and his siblings, also Wilfred and his children). But, I am stumped on Domitilde Poirier who is listed on the same headstone as Odillon . I have added her death record, assuming that it is the same person. To verify it, we need to know the exact date that she died. Do get this info, Holy Rosary (or Holy Family - whatever they are called these days), has the burial records for the gravesite along with death dates and burial dates. Just because the headstone states that she died in 1903 doesn't prove that it is the same person on the death certificate but it is a very good indication.
Is there anyway that you could go to the Holy Rosary Rectory and ask for the burial records for me. I would GREATLY appreciate it.

Do you have access to the records of who was buried in Notre Dame cemetery in Gardner, MA. I was wondering if Anita Leblanc was buried there. She died at 1 1/2 years old on 29 Aug 1931 .

I have changed her name per your request. Many thanks for trying to clean up the duplicates. Have you asked Michael to just delete his duplicate rather than a merge?

I have deleted the photos that you suggested. Could you please transfer ownership of this memorial to me?

Yes, I just checked and she is only in Gethsemane. Guess I got confused. : )

I just noticed that you have a daughter for George and Mary Donah (d. 1920) listed in both Calvary and Gethsemane Cemeteries. Perhaps you should not have her listed in Calvary with her folks since you mention she is buried in Gethsemane. I have not found any record of her as yet but certainly will let you know if I find any. Having her linked with her parents will alert everyone to her existence. Thanks for all the work you are doing for Find A Grave. Sue
