Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs and living in Douglasville, GA -- in the same county where my ancestors were pioneer settlers ca. 1830.

Since 2006 I have served as Chairman of the Douglas County Cemetery Preservation Commission. We have about 50-60 old, abandoned cemeteries in the county -- some of them very well concealed back in the woods. Each one is now cleaned at least once a year by the cemetery commission and a crew of county jail inmate trustees. I'm in the perfect job to be taking photographs of tombstones and providing information about them.

RE: Charles Shoemaker (AZ)
Was wondering about the burial place. I thought it was Arizona, but couldn't find him there, nor in Va., NY, or PA. Actually since I didn't know him, I can send the article I found to you if you like. You might already have it. I did find a Charles Shoemaker in AZ, but it was Charles R.

Charles W. Shoemaker and wife Virginia Leone
How confusing it gets when you try to find info. I ran across an article about Charles W. Shoemaker, died in a plane crash in Arizona. I couldn't find him on F.A.G., so also searched for his wife and his parents. I see you have her parents (I think) and was wondering if you have any info on Charles and Virginia? Apparently they were (someone was) originally from Fredonia, NY. Thanks.

John E. Reynolds
I have tried to reach you using your e-mail address but it keeps coming back as unknown address. When you have some time can you e-mail me at I have information on John E. Reynolds that is different from what you have posted. I would like to see if my John E. Reynolds and yours are both the same person. Yours was in Cobbs Legion and died during the Civil War. So was mine and he died during the Civil War. They even had the same father. Yours is buried in Douglas County, Georgia, mine is buried in Knoxville, Tennessee. This is just some of the things you and I have on John. I look forward to hearing from you.

George G McLarty
I attempted to fulfill your request for George McLarty (Find A Grave Memorial# 34397417) in the Veto Cemetery, Washington County, Ohio. I found some very old markers that are really showing their age. At least one or two did have the last name McLarty. The sun was shining directly at me at the time and I could not get a good photo of the one marker I believe was Catharine. George may have a marker in the area and it may be so old that it is not readable. It was really cold so I did not take a lot of time to search. I hope to get back that way again sometime and I will check again and see if I can find it. The markers are the old sandstone style that the face of the markers have fallen off and crumbling. Thought I would pass on what I found.

Grave house
My Great-Great-GrandMother Susan West #84036206 whom is buried at Ephesus Baptist Church has a grave house around her grave. I and many of my cousins are wondering if anyone knows how long this has been there and who put it up. It is getting in bad shape and I am wanting to have it fixed.

Thank you for all your help.

Thank you for keeping this cemetery clean. This is my great great great uncle. Our family have numerous old cemetery's in the area and it 't is impossible to keep all of them up. When I visit it always looks nice. Mr. Moore who lived in the house used to keep it up but I don't know if he is still alive.
