Bio and Links
Bio Photo DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NAME OF THIS UNION OFFICER or what unit he served under? He is a 2LT. On the reverse side of the photo it says Partridge's Gallery, Wheeling West Virginia. It has been used because there is a stamp on it.

Findagrave was founded in 1998. When I first joined this site back in July 1999, we had to mail our photos to Utah and they would upload the records. I can account for 179 famous records on this site that show me as the one who found and created the famous record. F-A-G only shows 112 This meant I did not get credit for many records. Anytime you see my photos dated before 2002, that meant I found the records but only credited with the photo. I have numerous trees on ancestry that I have done for friends. Ancestry com is where family trees are put together. Findagrave is a separate entity---This is one of my contributions I leave to future posterity.

Tips on researching your family tree.
Records from the 1800s:
Example 1. Mary T. Lincoln, the 'T'
usually represents her maiden name, not her middle initial.
Example 2. Robert Todd Lincoln. The first born son's middle name is usually his mothers maiden name.In this example, Todd is his mothers maiden name.

My goal is to do Quality Work, Not Quantity Work.Copyright information: You may use my photos. Most people do not give credit to the people who actually take the photos.People listed as FAMOUS on this site are "maintained by findagrave", which means only they can edit/add information. Any records I have that are Famous, I can't change a thing for you, sorry.

RE: Your 2LT Photo from Wheeling, W VA
Well, Tom, I love doing stuff like this. It's kind of like the lottery: I always believe that I'm going to win . . .

I sure wish we could identify him, and maybe one day we will.

RE: Your 2LT Photo from Wheeling, W VA
Hi Tom,

Well I did hear from them, but not the answer I wanted! Here is what they said: "The bad news is, it is virtually impossible to identify people in historical photographs without any records or identifying information. CDV cards, were easy and cheap and made by the thousands. It is an unfortunate fact that the names of people in numerous historical photographs, including many in our own collections, are lost to history. The only suggestion I can make is to check with local historical societies to see if they have the same image with an identification such as the Wheeling Historical Society"( ).

So I was all over that but to no avail. What a shame! Sorry. Let me know if you ever find out who he is!

I wrote to the Library of Congress:

Thank you very much Tom for taking a photo of Francis McNamara's grave. It's unlikely that we'll ever be in that part of the world so it's great to be able to add this photo to our family history.
