RE: Merry
Prettyman Merry is my 4th great-grandfather. I descend from his son John who came to Texas in 1831.
If you are a member of Ancestry my family tree is open & online there under Hawkins Family Tree. I would love to work with you, The Merry were my brick wall for 30 years I now have them back to Thomas Merry who came from England in the 1600's.
I recently visited the home Prettyman built in Kenton Co Ky, in 1785. It is still in good shape. I have some picture I will share.
Would you please send me the info on how you connect to the Merry Family. My personal e-mail is
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Claire Minnie Volts Rose, 163465368
Hello Steve,
I've transferred Claire Rose to you. Before doing so, I added some information I found to her bio: Clair with Silas in the 1930 & 1940 census; info from Silas' Declaration of Intention regarding her; linked Claire to the memorial pages of her parents and to Silas. I've also put information in the bio for Silas Sylvester.

You asked what sites I used for the research I found on Claire and her family. I use the Mormon website, FamilySearch, Ancestry, the online digitized newspapers on the website for my county library, and several other websites. Depending on the town or city where one lives, many of the libraries have a special library subscription to Ancestry. It is usually on a dedicated line and anyone can use Ancestry when they are at that library. The dedicated line usually means you don't have to go on the internet to access it. The library version doesn't have everything Ancestry provides to paying individuals, but has a large portion of them. Check out your local library before purchasing an individual subscription.

My dad did his DNA for the paternal side and I've done the maternal side for our family. Since my research only goes back to the mid 1800s, I could only use info regarding where in the world my family came from, nationalities, but not be able to connect to any cousins, family trees, etc., to be able to help my research now.

RE: Claire Volts Sylvester
Hello again,
I decided to look further for Claire. I found the U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007, showing her listed as Minnie Claire Rose; M. Claire Rose; Minnie Sylvester; Minnie Claire Volts. The obituary in The Oregonian has her under Claire Rose [Claire Volts], listing survivors as husband, daughters, Mary Ann Kaiser and Jeanette Gibson; and sons, Frank and Fred. I checked for her crypt in Lincoln and found her, not under Sylvester, but under Rose. I had created a memorial page for her and did the photos in May 2016. Her crypt is in the same corridor as Silas, but about 13 columns away, Memorial# 163465368.

The marriage record for Silas and her shows it was the first marriage for both of them. After he died, she married Louis Rose. You had the name of Rose as her middle name, but it was the last name of her 2nd husband. The 1910 census lists her as Clare M. Volts, and the 1920 census shows her as Minnie C. Volts. Not all records that I found showed the same birth date, and the memorial you created shows still another date. I'm sure the memorial I created is for the same person you are looking for.

RE: Silas Sylvester 162350036
Hello Steve,
I've been going corridor by corridor in the mausoleum, writing down the names and dates found on crypts, entering those that were not already in Find A Grave, taking photos of those who needed them and posting them. Silas is in the Wisteria Corridor, on the 1st floor. I finished the crypts in that corridor, and all the crypts on the 1st floor. Sorry, but I didn't find Clair on any of those crypts, in any of the corridors on the 1st floor. If she is in the mausoleum at Lincoln Memorial Park, she isn't on the 1st floor.
