THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

RE: Big Question
Well, Macso, I think We're onto something! I do have her son Dallasy but I haven't checked his wife but I probably have her, too, in my database.

Best regards,

George Del Monte

Big Question
Macso, I have Eli Walker ???Find A Grave # 141476359???, Born 12 Dec 1873, Springdale, Leavenworth, Kansas; married 1 Jun 1907 to Viola Belle Koster ???Find A Grave #141476358???, Born 23 Jan 1884, Lamar, Ottawa, Kansas, Died 22 Jun 1981. The two people in my database do not have Find A Grave numbers, plus, my Eli Walker has a Death date of 1981, whereas the one at FindAGrave died in 1948. The inscriptions are similar: Husband father, Wife mother. I'm thinking Eli and Viola were husband and wife.

Best regards,

George Del Monte

Genevive Beard Johns
Thank you, Your time & effort to update the Johns
memorial was very much appreciated. Genevive is a
family member of mind. However, we now spell the
surname Behar.

RE: Wrights
Thanks! Yes, Fairhaven used to be super helpful, and my impression is that Dignity anywhere is just the opposite. Unfortunate.
