I have identified many VanStone and Hey relatives, going back a few centuries. Many of the VanStones are in Mt. Albion, and a great number of Heys are in United German and French Cemetery, but I hope to find as many sites as I can wherever they might be, as well as sites of relatives connected to the VanStone and Hey families.|
I'm interested in any VanStone or Hey memorial anywhere in the United States or abroad, especially England and Germany.
I'd be happy to take pics for anyone. I get the requests regularly, but usually don't claim the requests until I'm sure I can find the spot. Any requests that have a Section and/or Plot number of the cemetery move to the head of the line for me. Try calling the cemetery first and ask for the location. Putting that in the request always speeds up the process for everyone.

I was researching the Wieczorek surname ancestors and descendants. Adam's maternal grandmother name was Frances (nee Wieczorek) Rybarczyk.

She's my husband's cousin's aunt...added the rest of the info tonight...
I was wondering if you know what information you received for Anna's date and place of death.
Her memorial number is 91302369. She is the daughter of Theodore and Rosa Ulm.
Looking at Ancestry, I know there was an Anna Ulm
in Illinois but they were not the same.
I am asking because I found a death notice for
an Anna Ulm on March 3, 1957 in Buffalo, NY at the same age Anna would be. I have her living in Buffalo up to 1951 and she would be 56 then.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Could you please add this to John Raps, Memorial #111287473?
Bereft of Wife and Three Little Ones In Just a Week.
The church at Wendelville could not hold all the people who came to attend the double funeral and sympathize with John Raps, who has been bereft of his entire family within a week. John Raps is a well-to-do farmer, living near Wendelville, southwest of Lockport. He has a fine farm and Is a hard-working man. A week ago Saturday, Katie, his baby daughter, aged 13 months, died, and the funeral was to have been held the following Monday. Monday morning, Elisabeth, the second daughter, a pretty babe of two summers, after a brief illness, passed away. Tuesday a double funeral was held, the two little ones being buried in one grave. Mr. and Mrs. Raps received the sympathy of the entire community. They had left one son, their eldest child, 5 years old, and so the parents felt they still had much to live for. Wednesday morning the boy, who had been seized with dysentery, the disease which carried off the babies, followed his sisters. The parents were now prostrated with grief, and nothing their neighbors could say or do consoled them in the least. The arrangements for the funeral were made for Friday. Mrs Raps, a charming young woman of 30, gave up completely Thursday, and that followed her three children to the other side. Saturday afternoon mother and son buried side by side and the father is bereft of family, an almost cruel kind of grief. His sad affliction has called for the sympathy of a wide circle of friends from the county. Taken from ROCHESTER DEMOCRAT AND CHRONICLE. MONDAY. AUGUST 19, 1901.
Thanks for the quick updates :-)

I don't know if you are interested in posting obituaries to the memorials that you have but I search out and transcribe ones I find then send them off to the creator when there is an established memorial... if you prefer I not send them to you just let me know and I will stop. If you wish to copy my transcription (BELOW) and post you may do so. I know the value of an obit... small bits of info can open a door.

The edits I sent you were through the Edits tab on your profile page. In case you haven't had occasion to use that tab before, it shows up on your profile page as a white tab in the upper right-hand corner, grouped with two other tabs, one for Contributor Tools and another for Edit My Profile. If you click on the Edits tab, it will take you to a list of any edits for your memorials that have been sent to you. If edits are sent to you and you don't respond within a certain time period, which I believe is a month, find-a-grave automatically accepts them. The presumption apparently is that all suggested edits are correct. I've found that that presumption is right about 95% of the time.
I took a lot of photos in Mt Ridge last summer and am doing additional research as I post the photos. Generally, I'm finding additional info that I send to the manager of the memorial thru the Edits tab. Occasionally, I find information that differs from what's on the memorial. Unless that difference is clearly because of a typo or something like that, I'm letting the manager of the memorial know about the differing info, so that the manager can decide whether or not to do anything with it. I use an email for that purpose, rather than the public comments, because it usually involves a bit of explanation or providing links to the differing info.
Both the date of birth for Stephen and his place of birth are from his WWI draft registration card, which, theoretically, he filled out. The date of birth clearly disagrees with what's on his stone. I have no issue whatsoever if you decide to stay with the date on the stone. As to his place of birth, I've found that find-a-grave's geographic lists don't always agree with what is given in various records. Just FYI, when I have a location that doesn't show up in the listings, I stop with the largest division I find there, even if that's the country, and put the rest of the info in the bio section, indicating where it came from. That way, it's available to people, and I'm not "censoring" the info in order to make it fit in the listings.
The info on Ida's maiden name was from an online family tree. I apologize - I was jumping back and forth between a couple different sites and didn't focus on the fact that it was an ancestry tree. The information given was that her full maiden name was Ida Martha Emma Eichelkraut, born 3 May 1890 in Royalton, Niagara, NY, died 15 Oct 1934 in Lockport, Niagara, NY. No parents were listed. I checked the census records and the 1910 US census shows an Ida Eichelkraut, daughter of Herman and Minnie Eichelkraut, living in Royalton. Ancestry connected this Ida with Ida Berner, but I have no idea on what basis, unless it's because of the family tree linking them. Because I found no record showing both of those names, I wanted to give you, as the manager of her memorial, the choice as to whether or not you wanted to do anything with that info. Under similar circumstances, I might, again, put a note in her bio section, to the effect that her maiden name might have been Eichelkraut, and see if anyone offers more definitive information.
I didn't mean to cause you any distress over this, and I apologize because I obviously did. I appreciate your work on find-a-grave and hope that we can still work together in the future if the occasion arises.
