DECEMBER 24, 2023: It's been a while since I've been active on this site. All is good with me, having moved into a wonderful senior community in St. Louis. Health is good and looking forward to a nice Christmas with family-kids and grand kids. Just a note, I have not been able to do any photo updates, as it's been difficult for me to get back to Versailles these past three years. Please forgive if I'm still lacking recently added stone dates. I can't promise I'll ever be able to get more pics in the Versailles Cemetery. Merry Christmas to my F-A-G buddies.

JULY 20, 2020: Just checking in to let everyone know that I am doing well-healthy and safe. recently I've been absent from Find-a-Grave, as I've been busy with other projects. Please feel free to email me with any questions or photo requests. I hope you all are keeping safe and healthy in these challenging times!

NOVEMBER 1, 2O19: Today, I completed updating the grave location information on the 8,310 Versailles Cemetery memorials. They should all now agree with the Woodford County Cemetery website.
SEPTEMBER 2019: Note: I am currently updating grave locations (Cemetery Plot #) on each of the 8,000+ Versailles Cemetery memorials. This means modifying the memorial to agree with the Woodford County Cemetery website official records. Many never showed a location and others were based on the 2002 Versailles Cemetery Book. They did not always agree, and, given lapses in cemetery record keeping, it's hard to know which is correct. Using the county records, at least, gives consistency! It is taking some time to get through all of them, so there will be numerous suggestions for the next months.

I have photographed all of the gravestones in the Versailles Cemetery in Woodford Co., Kentucky-about 9,000 marked graves. I continually monitor F-G for new Versailles Cemetery memorials and post related photos where they exist. I make an effort to update for new stones and added death dates. [I do not create memorials]

In addition, I have created an Ancestry family tree that includes everyone buried in the Versailles Cemetery and their extended families, where possible. Using this information, we are currently working to connect children's F-G memorials with their parent's, regardless of where they are buried.

UPDATE: July 2019, Just returned from Versailles and added some new photos-updated stones, new burials and previously missed stones. With my growing maturity, the old body doesn't have the stamina it did, so didn't get as much done as I had hoped.

Since November 2018, my cohort and F-G contributor, John Cowherd, has added more than 2,500 new memorials. In total, all contributors have brought the total number of Find-a-Grave memorials for the Versailles Cemetery to 8,164, as of July, 23, 2019. Of these, 7,400 are marked with stones and 764 are unmarked. I have posted around 10,000 photos to the marked graves. Some have multiple photos. I am using Woodford County cemetery records to add grave locations to each memorial.

The Woodford County Cemetery Project lists 13,919 total Versailles Cemetery burials, of which 9,341 are identified burials. Not all of these have stones, however. There are almost 5,000 grave locations for which there are no recorded burials-empty, or unknown. The cemetery is closed for new sales, but graves previously purchased may still be used.

I appreciate any feedback, supporting information, and even personal knowledge of a burial that can give greater accuracy to our historic information and F-G memorials.

The following are earlier posts that I leave as, sort of an historical record of what we have done:

On March 22, 2016, there are 395 memorials without gravestone photos. The majority of these have no stone or lack evidence that they are buried in the cemetery. A small number are burials since 2011 that will be updated.

UPDATE: (July 2016) Last month I was in Versailles and photographed the stones that have been added since 2011. This resulted in about 900 new pics including multiple shots of some. There were quite a few of the newer burials that still had no stone and a few that the death date had not been updated.
I know that there is at least one that I missed, based on feedback.

NOTE: I have just completed my upload of these photos to Ancestry.com and added or switched out all the new photos on Find-a-Grave.

UPDATE: (August 2016)
Recently, I looked at the related F-G memorials that do not have photos. I have compared them to my photo list, the records I have from the cemetery and the two local funeral homes. When the name does not appear in any of those, I have questioned the burial, by sending out a message to the original F-G creator.

Recently, I have looked at the 3900 memorials created for the Versailles Cemetery and posted gravestone photos on any that lacked them if there was an existing stone on June 2011.

Clearly, there are people buried in the Versailles Cemetery that are not recorded, and Im hoping to narrow down which ones are actually there. There are a number of infants that do not appear in any records, but I have not questioned those, as we know the records on them are sketchy and many have family members buried there, making the burial more likely.

The majority of the adult interments that lack official documentation, seem to have come from being listed in Kentucky Death Certificates. While many of these are accurate, some are not.
