Bio and Links
Bio Photo Greetings!

A Find-a-Graver since the site's origins as the hit for notable graves--not genealogy--I do "Famous" bios, and photograph/write about old gravestones, cemeteries, and the people interred within for the general reader. Will cheerfully answer queries, make corrections, add data to the "Family Links" section, and include other relevant info ASAP. Please no requests to insert multiple hyperlinks in the narrative part of the bio or to transfer pre-1900 burials. Find-a-Grave members can always include any grave listed on the website in an ancestral or other type of grouping by using the "Virtual Cemetery" feature. If you wish to quote me or use my photos, please contact me; attribution for written pieces is "by Nikita Barlow, for Findagrave", and for photographs, "Photo by Nikita Barlow". Thanks for your cooperation, and happy graving!

Memorial #8273013
Hi Nikita,
I can't imagine the complexity of all the Memorial pages you have created. Here is my problem, and I hope you can help.
Ezra L'Hommedieu had (2) Wives:
#1: Charity Floyd (Memorial #8273004). He married
her (12/24/1765) in Brookhaven, Suffolk
County, New York.
#2: Mary Catherine Havens (Memorial #113055914).
He married her (6/15/1803) in Queens,
Queens County, New York. She is related to
I asked Find A Grave to add Mary Catherine Havens as Ezra's wife, but there was no menu choice to tell them she was his 2nd wife. So, they listed her as his 1st Wife, and spelled her middle name incorrectly. They do not seem to reply to e-mails,
so; I am sorry to bother you about this. I know you would want Ezra's bio to be correct, as I do. I thank you! Janet (Havens) Siegfried, Contributor.

Zebulon Jones
Me Again Nikita,

I found Zebulon chosen at the annual meeting of the Town of Newark, as moderator on 14 April 1794. So we can assume that he died after that date. You might want to put that note on Find A Grave.

Thanks for all you are doing.

Abigail Ball - Jones
Hi again.

If this Abigail #6080342, died 1801 at age 49, she was born 1752 and her mother in 1743. I do not think so.

Do you have a e-mail address so we can by pass Find A Grave as we "talk". I am

Zebulon Jones was my 5th great uncle, therefore my interest in him and his family.

Also find Abigail Ball, born 1669 married to Daniel Harrison. She died 1 Dec 1738.

Abigail's parents are shown on Find A Grave as Joseph and Anna Ball, so she is not the Abigail Harrison who married Zebulon Jones and Thomas Curry.

This has really got me looking. After 40 years of doing genealogy you would think I could find "stuff".

RE: Capt. Zebulon Jones #6768769
Hi again,

The Abigail Jones buried in Bloomfield Cemetery is not the 2nd wife of Zebulon Jones.

I know better than to take other peoples research with out checking it.

So, do not know where Abigail is either.

Hi Nikita, I believe you are right even if a number of the history of New Jersey have he death date as 16 April 1782. I find him as an executor of Joannah Cook's estate on 9 January 1786, per the "Archives of the State of New Jersey", first series, Vol. XXXVI.
Looks like the death record for the cemetery is that of his first wife, Lydia Harrison.
So, I assume that he has died, but when and when. He second wife, Abigail Harrison (Curry) is buried in the Bloomfield Cemetery and she died on 14 March 1801 in Essex County.
Thanks, Chuck

Samuel Lindsley Part II
I wanted to see if you could also change the birth and death dates on your memorial. Your Samuel was born abt 1760 (no citation as to exact date). The current birth date you have is for the other Samuel Lindsley (my ancestor). The death date for your Samuel needs to be changed to Jun 18, 1820 based on his probate will and he died in Orange, Essex County, NJ. Again, the death date and place currently listed for my Samuel. Please let me know if you have any questions, I do prefer using email as I can send you documents with proof and also can help you write a bio for this Samuel who incidently is my 1st cousin 7x removed. thanking you in advance, Phil

Samuel Lindsley
Nikita, there is considerable confusion on Samuel. There are 2 Samuel Lindsley's for this birth/death and revolutionary war dates. This Samuel Marker is for the one who is from Essex County and died 18 Jun 1820. The other is my 4th ggrandfather who died in 1805 in Lindley, NY and he was from Morris County, NJ. Can you edit the bio of your Find A Grave marker for Samuel to remove the first several sentences including he marriage to Lois Bradley. Your Samuel married Phebe Williams. I do have proof of this if you want to discuss further. My email is: many thanks, Phil Cirullii

There is a gravestone with the name "Samuel Lindsley" in the Colonel Lindsley Burying Ground (Lindley, Steuben County, NY. Samuel's Find A Grave Memorial# 50314155 has two photos of that gravestone, one a close-up where you can read the inscription. Painted Hills Genealogical Society's Burying Ground survey can be found here:
For Samuel, they have:
LINDSLEY, Samuel, Major , Spouse of Lois Bradley , Born 6 Sep 1760 , Died 1 May 1805 Revolutionary War Officer, s/o Lt. Col. Eleaser & Mary Miller

My final request was to copy and paste the following on #6621716 ...

Samuel Lindsley is buried in Col. Lindsley Burying Ground; Lindley, Steuben County, NY.

Thank you,
Buddy Leech
