Bio Photo The Recording of A Cemetery
By Thelma Greene Reagan

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely windswept hill:
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreaks of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time:
Lying under the trees and clouds-
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad Lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

My husbands grandmother, sister and mother, saved obituaries all their lives, pasted them in old sears books, they were saved from being tossed out and given to me. I paid my son 1 penny to paste them onto index cards. There are no newspaper names or dates. I've been sharing the information from them as I find that persons burial place. History saved for all, thanks to Rosella, Glover Criss Mildred Criss and Wilma Criss Whittaker

I was given hundreds of old obituaries last year and a few years ago a lady in Wetzel county gave me her book of hundreds old obituaries dating back to 1940's I hope to find a way to put them online, since I don't have enough time in my busy life to type them all.

I recently realized that I can't add the obituary copies as a photo, thus I'm going over all my past post and removing all information and donating the old/papers articles to genealogy societies or libraries if they will take them. So it looks like 100s of the years of history saved will have to be found for some another way. I'll try to type them and add or send to be added to obituaries but the process will take much time which I don't have at the moment.

My name is Christie, I am a genealogist for the Lilley's, Logsdon, Doyles, Halls, and Moore's. Its kinda funny I married a Moore and come to find out my 3rd great grandparents were Moore's. My question to you are you related to Rememberance S. Moore (#104672372) and his wife Amanda (#39026831)?
I would love it if you would be very kind and transfer his memorial too me!! I have a request pending for Amanda's memorial.

RE: Researching my family history
Hi Sylvia

Thanks for the information and help. I had some surgery on Friday the 14th, so this is my chance to respond. I believe this is the Aunt that I used to call Aunt Ruth, I had lost track of and the rest of the family many years ago after my Father died back in 1972. I had no idea she was still alive until last year. I had recently (last few months started trying to piece together my family history. Fineagrave was the first place I started looking, then Ancestory.com. I gotten a lot of information, big thanks to Vince Powers who has helped me a lot. I just recently joined the SCV thanks to this info. I need to add some information about the family on both sites, have had very little free time since I still work 6+ days a week. If you run across any of my ancestors pictures of them in their civil war uniforms, I would love to see them. Again, thank you so much for your help.

Sincerely,

Jerry L Monroe

James Burl Hawkins #53905674
My aunt remarried to Jack Hawkins b. 26Mar or Apr 1933 and d. 13Apr2017 in Akron, Summit Co, OH. I don't know anything about Jack's lineage - I do know that he was previously married and had a son that died around Akron after falling from a balcony. I looked on familysearch.org and find a 1940 census that looks to be your James Burl with a son Jack so this may be his family. Can you shed any light on this?

Thanks!
