Bio and Links
Bio Photo Although I've been a member of Find A Grave for more than 5 years, its been just recently that I've contributed to the site or done any research from cemeteries listed on the site of mine and my husband's families.

I was born in Northampton Co., NC at the farm of my maternal grandparents, Millard Eugene "Genie" Bridgers and Virgie Janeva Draper Bridgers on what is now the dirt portion of Bridgers Rd. My parents moved to Portsmouth, VA in the early 1940's and I lived there until my marriage. Currently I live in Yorktown, VA.

Shortly after I began researching my ancestors in 1998, I tried (in vain) to locate the graves of my paternal great grandparents, Enos Johnson & Frances Lavenia Baugham Johnson. I knew the burial location for the other 3 sets of great grandparents (and a few further back grandparents) and really wanted to find the Johnson's burial location.

After searching many of the family cemeteries in Northampton Co., NC, I realized there was a wealth of knowledge from grave markers that probably would not be available to researchers in years to come due to elements, abandonment of sites and family members' knowledge. So, I began visiting the sites armed with tools, notebooks and pencils, tape recorders, bug spray, blaze orange vest, water, paper towels, trash bags, etc, copying the info from the grave markers. Sure wish I'd taken pictures of all of them!!!

After a 12 year period of "graving", I decided it was time to share my info with others and donated a 4 volume set of my cemetery books to the library and to the museum in Jackson, Northampton Co., NC. The set contains over 300 family, church and town cemeteries indexed alphabetically by names of roads in Northampton Co., NC, with a few cemeteries from adjoining Hertford Co., NC, as some of "my families" were buried there.

Just recently (2012), I began submitting info on the Find A Grave site and hope to continue submitting more info in the future.

*** Jan 2014

Have revisited some of the cemeteries from which I recorded info, as indicated above. I have added photos of some of the headstones as well as pictures of individuals for some of the memorials I created as well as pics of stones and individuals to many memorials others created.

Actively involved with this site and hoping to continue sharing many of the over 300 cemeteries from which I recorded info from grave markers.

Hargroves in Greenwood Memorial Gardens
Dot, if you take a look at the photo with the cemetery sign for Greenwood Memorial Gardens, you will notice a pond or lake with the fountain in the background. The Hargroves are buried in front of that pond/lake right next to it.

RE: Crestview & Ola
I just had a thought. If you call Crestview and tell them you are unable to travel to their cemetery, but are sending someone in your place ... would they give me the information and help me to find all your family buried there? Just wondering if that might work. Might be worth a try???

Your photo requests
Dot,
Just an FYI. Crestview if Roanoke Rapids will not let anyone on their property unless they have family buried there. I went there a few years ago to answer requests and was told unless I had family there, I have no business being there. They would not help me at all. So I do not even try to go there, even thou it is only a little over 20 miles from me.

RE: Ola Grant Draper Batten
Dot,
Put in a photo request for it. I will never remember that & I know we need a fresh photo. I cannot tell you have many cemeteries I have photos for that I need to add. Slowing working on them, so keep the requests coming and I will do my best to get them.
Thanks much.

Sorry, I meant to add that to hers last night. Hopefully I will get more pics from Cedar Lawn in the upcoming weeks.

Donald Dilday
Please remove the death certificate you posted on Donald Dilday's memorial. I know Findagrave allows them, but I do not like them. I feel they do not add anything to the memorial. I put the info from the death certificate in the bio section. Than you. # 99548904
