Great Pictures!
J Cozette Green,
I would like to utilize some of your great pictures in my non profit Genealogy. Looks like a lot of relatives in Upper Stephens Cemetery, NC. Mary Ann Stephens (Brown)/Reuben Harrison Stephens is my 3rd Great Aunt/Uncle. The way it looks, anybody in Haywood, NC is a relative. Brown, Coward, Hooper, Fortner, Stephens.
Thank You for your consideration,
Kevin Carter

Eliza Franklin Lisenbee
Whoops, just reread that you wrote about George Washington Hensley not George Washington Kirk. Also, thought I'd add that Waitsel Avery Hensley was my uncle that I knew. He was my grandmother Maggie's brother.

Eliza Franklin
Hi Cozette, I was just visiting Eliza Franklin Lisenbee's site again. I have other information about her children you may want to correct. Her son James Shelton/Franklin had 2 children- Waitsel Avery Shelton/Franklin and Mary Magdlene Shelton/Franklin. These children went by their step-dad's name Hensley. They were not Eliza's children. Also, Eliza did not have a son Richard "Dick" Kirk with Civil War officer George Washington Kirk. He was born to James Shelton/Franklin Lisenbee's wife's mother Rhoda Norton. Please go to the "Broyles" tree to see all of her children.

Gail Ashe
Hi Ms. Green,

My name is Gail Ashe and I am a great grand daughter of Narcissus Prince. Saw you had a couple of pictures that I don't have of Granny Narcissus and of Aunt Julina. Is it possible to email them to me (the oblong picture of them both together) and the one of Aunt Julina smiling? If you can, my email is

Thank you and I must say you are doing a wonderful job on Find A Grave!

Eliza Franklin
Hello, My g-grandmother was Eliza "Dude" Franklin Lisenbee #142395910 If you looked at the letters on Ancestry, they are mine. In the letters it mentioned that my grandfather James Franklin Lisenbee took her to KY, and that she died about 1912. She was also buried without a marker. Just the day before Easter this year, I got a message about where her son James Franklin Lisenbee was buried. I had put him in the cemetery where his mother and brother Robert Lisenbee were buried. He was actually buried in the Saylor, Pathfork Cemetery in Harlan Co., KY. Anyway, I was wondering if you transfer Eliza over to me? I have been doing research on her since the 80s.

Thank you,
Cheri Graham

Noah Vanover
Hi Ms Green, my name is David Noe and I live in Harlan. I am trying to get some information on Noah Vanover, I have found a Will recorded listing Lois Vanover as his wife. Do you know if Noah Vanover remarried after Lottie passed away? And if so, did he have children with Lois Vanover? I am not positive if the Will I found is the same Noah Vanover, but it lists Baxter as his address. I appreciate your time.
Thank You
David Noe

Memorial Marker
I just noticed you were trying to raise funds for a memorial marker for Billy and Judy Ensley, have you been able to accomplish this yet? Billy and Judy are my gggggrandparents - Calvin Williams, Mattie Ensley Williams, Alfred Sherman Ensley, Robert Ensley, Billy Ensley. I have visited this cemetery and found it to be a beautiful, peaceful place. You could feel it! I would love to know they had some type of marker.

Thank you for an update.

RE: Transfers Done
Mintie Howard Cooper is the divorced wife of James Alvis Cooper. James was the brother to Elvin Levi Cooper and my Parlia Cooper Gross Wilson. I sent you edit requests, and will also take over maintenance if you would like.

I think that your Lisenbee Cemetery and my Cooper Cemetery are one large cemetery. You were there, is it possible that these two groupings of headstones are actually in the same cemetery. I have found that cemeteries in Harlan County often went by numerous names (Nolan for Dewey Sharp... who is related to the Coopers, Cooper for my Cooper family, and Lisenbee for your family burials). If you think they are the same, then I will request a merge from the Find A Grave administrators into your Lisenbee with alternate names for the cemetery being Cooper and Nolan (as indicated on death records and military headstone requests).

Let me know your thoughts on this. The empty space between the two groupings of headstones could contain burials that were never marked (often the case in Harlan County as I have many, many family members with no headstone there).

Thanks for everything!

RE: Cooper Cemetery, Baxter KY
I am glad that your Lisenbee cousins decided to show you their family cemetery. How are they related to the Cooper family? Thank you for making sure the map coordinates and description to the cemetery were correct. I am assuming that the gate is much closer to the beginning of the Housing Drive and just past the driveway that is off to the left on Housing Drive?

I will take you on on the offer for a transfer, and will submit the requests now.

Thanks for everything!
