Bio Photo Additional information and corrections are very welcome. Feel free to use my headstone photos too, but photo credit would be nice.

If anyone wants to take over the management of their family member's memorial from me, just ask. As long as you're related to the deceased, that's good enough for me. Please remember to include your Find A Grave ID number when requesting the transfer.

Please do not post complete obituaries on my memorials (too many problems with people's privacy and copyright infringement). Paraphrasing the main points from an obituary is great, and I'm happy to add that if you forward it to me using the Edit tab.

And finally...

From the Amador Ledger (Calif.), November 2, 1900:
Title - THE TRANSLATION
On the gate of the cemetery in Rio de Janeiro is a notice in Spanish, French, and English that no dogs are admitted unless led by the owner. This is how the announcement is made in English: "Noble mesdames and gentlemen who may desire a dog to follow in this tombsyard will be permission unless him drawn by a cable round him throttle."

RE: Phelina Ida Conant
She carried the Henderson name. Don't know why... maybe because her parents divorced. Some people are like that. I have family that did the same thing.

You are very welcome! Was surprised when I found that. He was the great grandfather of my cousin. I asked my cousin if he knew about that and he did not. So he asked his mom and she said yes but did not know the whole story.

Platt - Rose Hill
Hi Kathie - that's OK, after I made the request I noticed that you are related to the Platts, and had done some work and picture-taking at Rose Hill. I'm not closely related to Platts, I'm a descendant of David Blakeslee. Will send you the obit.

Russian Orthodox Cemetery memorials
Thanks for the heads up. I'll check with Mr. Hunt to see if he'll change the location of the memorials he added. Thanks very much.

Lucy Thomas grave
I had a great aunt named Lucy Zoda Thomas. I think this grave is hers. Are you related? It says she has an unmarked grave. I am Judy Giordano from New Jersey and a member of findagrave.

RE: New Helvetia memorials
Thanks. I know about the history of NV somewhat. It was first near Sutter's Fort and then moved to an area near 28th and J St. But then the city built a school there and so many of the graves markers disappeared. Many graves/bodies were moved to a plot within East Lawn Memorial Cem. in East Sacramento, but the records did not accompany the bodies. But at least, there is plot there for NV and some of it's original graves stones. Now the cemetery committee is trying to find more info and set many of the records straight...as best can be ascertained.I suppose that once all this info is correlated and double checked, a plaque with 'residents' names will be dedicated. Sadly, this story repeats itself in many old cemeteries across the country. I will try to be sure to check your pages against death notices I find in the old papers. I really appreciate what you did!

RE: New Helvetia memorials
Thanks for your quick reply and thanks for doing that project! The cemeteries committee is trying to get a more comprehensive listing of those buried in NH. As a photo contributor for this site, I thought I's check for listings there, and it was a great surprise and help to find 353 names for that defunct cemetery. I have found a couple of names, in the paper, not listed, but your work is greatly appreciated!

New Helvetia memorials
Hi. It seems that you are the person who has made memorial pages for people who were buried at New Helvetia Cemetery back in the 1800's. I am curious if you used the California Digital Newspaper Collection as your source of names and info. It looks to me like you did, as I am checking that source for names currently. The ones I have found so far from the 1850's seem to be ones on Find A Grave with your name on them. I am working on helping find names to correlate or add to a list of burials for this cemetery, as most of the records were lost long ago.
I already printed out a list of the 353 burials listed on this site. I was also going to check that against notices in the local papers on CDNC. If this is what you have already done, then I don't see the point of going through all the deaths in the paper, if you have already done that and made pages for them all. Thanks for your reply.
