Bio and Links
Bio Photo I began my family research, "hobby", in 1975 and soon realized that it is much like putting a jigsaw puzzle together except the more questions you answered, the more you created and the puzzle was never completed.
My great-grandparents were from Baden Germany and the Oxon region of England. I am a member of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) and veteran records/graves have a special place in my heart.
I link my direct ancestors to their parents where possible and whenever possible leave information to help link them to their "Old World" roots. My mainline famly surnames are Surman/Sailors,Owens, Bachman/Homewood, Wehde, Haas/Schmitt, and Gerken/Kneivel.
I authorize anyone to use only my tomb- stone photos and will transfer memorials if requested (as long as the memorial is not one of my direct line ancestors) and your relationship is closer than mine or your knowledge exceeds mine. I will try to correct errors other than cited material - be patient for the corrections.

RE: Serah Smith memorial
Hi John,

John and Margaret (Murphy) Smith (Serah's parents) are my great-great-great grandparents.

Serah's brother (John Henry Smith - Find A Grave Memorial # 78481636) is my great-great grandfather.

I've been working on connecting this family on Find A Grave.

Thanks again for your assistance!

RE: Serah Smith memorial
Thanks much for the update to Serah Catherine (Smith) Smith's memorial.

Serah's parents were John and Margaret (Murphy) Smith, and she married Henry Smith (no relation).

Essentially, Serah's married name was the same as her maiden name.

Thank you for the sites of Hattie & Lewis Johnson. I'm working on getting the brothers and sisters hooked to there parents. So was really pleased to see you had transferred them to me. Will keep working on them and I so appreciate the time and effort that you put in the sites. Thank you again. Betty Glazier Whipple.
