William, would you please add the following bio to memorial: 97638177, Ellis Greer:

JACKSONVILLE - Ellis Greer, 93, of Jacksonville, died June 26, 2010, at home.

He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Virginia Jewell Marshall Greer;
by daughter, Jewell Raye Greer Hackett; and daughter-in-law, Peggy Ruth Todd Greer.

Surviving are brother Larry G. Greer of Narrows, Va.; three sons, Allen K. Hale
and wife Margaret of Hanover, Pa., Stephen E. Greer Sr. of Jacksonville and Robert
M. Greer and wife Ciscelia of Garner; son-in-law, Jim Hackett of Jacksonville; 10
grandchildren, Ed Hale and wife Janice of Zebulon, Lisa Hale of Virginia, Jennifer
Ball and husband Michael of Virginia, Summer L. Greer of Raleigh, Jason B. Greer
and wife Amanda of Garner, Elizabeth Pace Britt and husband Lee, Virginia Pace
Gardner, Robert E. Pace and wife Heather, Stephen E. Greer Jr. and Amanda Greer,
all of Jacksonville; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Ellis was born in Davy, W.Va., on March 19, 1917, the first of eight children, to
Robert Millard and Zella Duncan Greer. Following graduation from high school he
worked as a coal miner for a time prior to enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He served in the Pacific throughout the World War II and was a survivor of the
Dec. 7, 1941, attack at Pearl Harbor. He saw action in New Guinea and the Solomon
Islands, and attained the rank of gunnery sergeant prior to honorable discharge from
the Marines after the war. Following military service, he remained aboard Camp Lejeune
as a federal government employee for many years prior to retiring as supervisor of
preservation and packing.

Ellis remained active in his retirement years, was devoted to his family and especially
loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid reader and relished lively
discussions on any topic. He also enjoyed outdoor activities throughout his life,
including hunting and fishing, coaching youth league baseball and in later years
spent much time gardening. He loved family gatherings at vacation time and holidays,
and especially delighted in preparing feasts for family and friends with home baked
cornbread and fresh vegetables from his garden.

A loving and devoted husband and father, Ellis will be remembered for his steadfast
willingness to help others and for the joy he brought to his family and all who knew him.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Coastal Carolina
State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home. In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity
of one's choice.

Charles Bryan Hatcher
Thank you so much for taking the picture of Charles Bryan Hatcher's memorial headstone.

CB meant the world to me, he was like a brother to me and I have been trying to locate him for several years, it hurt me deeply to find out he had died on July 24, 2016.

I greatly appreciate your taking time to photograph his memorial and getting a picture for me.
