Bio and Links
Bio Photo My family spent many Sunday afternoons visiting our family cemeteries. We would stroll together, sometimes three or four generations at a time, gently touching the stones, whispering greetings, shedding a tear or two, always careful of our steps, sharing memories and legends, passing the stories down from one generation to the next. I always felt like I knew everyone in those cemeteries even though thay had passed away decades, even centuries, before my birth. As children, we would stand before the stone of an ancestor and carefully recite everything we had been told, to the knowing nods or corrections of our elders. I cherish the memories of those Sundays in my adult life. My family no longer lives close enough to each other to stroll through those cemeteries. Find A Grave has allowed me to create virtual family cemeteries that my family can stroll through at any time without the limitations of time or distance. We can't touch the stones or hear the wind in the pines, but we can still whisper a greeting, shed a tear, and remember.
I will gladly edit or transfer any of the memorials that I have submitted that are not in my direct line.

I tried to leave a message but could not. I hope this is not just in my computor but...there is an advertisment over the face of the "I am not a robot"

I would like to hear from you if you are related. I have tons of information on them as his mother was a Fairbanks. Actually, two sisters married men of other familys but..their kids married into each family and the Dixon line belongs to both girls. I am from their brother, James Fairbanks Jr.

Location of the Greenwood Cemetery
Hi Roanna,

My name is Marc Neves and I am a descendant of Griffith Dickenson who's grave you posted on Find a Grave.

I just joined Sons of the American Revolution due to my relation to him.

I am working in Richmond and would like to try and find his grave this coming Thursday but I haven't been able to find anyone in the Chalk Level area who knows where the Greenwood Cemetery is located and there are no directions online as to how to find it.

Can you tell me where it is located so I can find it?

Thanks!

Compton Family Cemetery
Ms. Cann, can you give me the location of the Compton Family Cemetery in Chalk Level, Va.? You photographed John William Compton's grave marker, he is my 2nd great grandfather through my paternal grandmother who was a Compton. My aunt and I will be going to 2 other family cemeteries in that area and would like to stop at this one. I cannot find the location on the web. Thank you.

Horsley Cemetery, Buckingham Co., Va.
I had a photo for John Horsley that I have added. His death year, however, is 1887. Thanks for your contributions.

RE: Richard Whitehead, Jr. Memorial #25663813
Monroe-Tate Cemetery which says it's a little less than 1/2 mile north of Route 40 on Telegraph Road.

I would ask Mike but his profile says he has unfortunately passed away,

Thanks, Beth
