Bio and Links
Bio Photo Besides working on my own family tree I'm working, through public records such as those found on Ancestry.com, to identify the men, women and children buried at the state hospitals in Morganton, NC, Goldsboro, NC, Brattleboro, VT, Namozine, VA, Rusk, TX, New Toronto, Canada and Middletown, CT and to link them to their loved ones. I have also listed those buried at the Caswell Training Center in Kinston, NC and Letchworth Village in NY and hope to have assistance in linking them to their loved ones.
To document the research involved I post the death certificates on those memorials and I add a non-working link to the research trees on Ancestry.com where those interested can see how I arrived at my conclusions. Please desist in your attempts to dissuade me from so documenting my research and thereby facilitating others' attempts to research their loved ones. You know who you are. I ask that you calm yourself. This, too, shall pass.

I grew up in Greenville county, SC, first in the city of Greenville, then at the foot of Glassy Mountain in the "Dark Corner" where my maternal grandmother and her parents and grandparents were born. My mother, Anne Ballenger King McCuen, worked for decades as a meticulous land historian in upper SC and published several research texts. My father, William Garrison McCuen, MD worked for decades as an internist/general practitioner caring for many of the upstate SC residents in their homes, hospitals, the Veterans' clinic and his office.

Now I am in the foothills of NC, but enjoy maintaining family property near Glassy Mtn.

You hereby have my express permission to use ANY photo I have made and posted to Find a Grave for your own purposes - but I would appreciate a credit notation as the source should you repost it on your family tree, for this reflects the efforts made in preserving the record and may also provide a link to others interested in that person or cemetery.

I "inherited" a number of memorials posted by Buck Buchanan who introduced me to FAG and will happily transfer them to family. Just send a SAC stating your relationship and I'll be pleased to turn them over to your care. Alternatively, if you are working to identify folks in a particular cemetery where Buck posted memorials and would like to manage the memorials he posted - just let me know and I'll be happy to transfer them to your management. I have found that Buck duplicated a few of the memorials he posted (and on occasion so have I) - if you find that to be the case please let me know so I can remove the duplicates.

As for those of you who assist me in making these memorials useful and respectful, "thanks" and please keep your helpful edits coming.

A lot of conflicts might be avoided among us if each of us will accept and act as if this is about those who've gone before and NOT about us.

Timothy Quilliams at Hurst Chapel
Hi,
I recently photographed all the gravestones at Hurst Chapel and I did not find a stone for Timothy Quilliams. However, several of the stones are almost impossible to read or don't have anything on them at all. I did not have time to try and enhance any of the hard to read stones. I will try to work in photoshop on a few of them but, I'm not too hopeful. So, I did not want to remove your request, in case someone else is able to produce a photo.

I grew up in that church but now live in Dallas TX. If I get a chance to go back, I'll look again.

RE: Gillie Bacon
Suzannah, I found that none of the Bacon's and extended family markers were on FG, so I took pics of every marker in the Bacon plot and posted them all up last night. Researched everyone of them and sent corrected info to the owner of the memorials who is a personal friend. Should you have any further info on the Bacon family buried in Oakwood, I am sure Carla would appreciate having it to add to the memorials.
Have a blessed Christmas. Dee

Sandra Chapman
Nancy Matilda Dillard
On 7 November 1878, John A Watkins married Louisa J Ellis in Wilkes, North Carolina according to the North Carolina County Marriage Records. The children are from that union and not the children of Nancy Matilda Dillard. US Find-a-Grave states John A Wadkins married Nancy Matilda Dillard prior to Louisa, but no documentation is listed. There is an 1880 US Census that lists an Andrew Wadkins married to a Nancy with a child, James. Either John Andrew Wadkins was married to both Louisa & Nancy at the same time or there are two different Wadkins.

James Patterson Gregory buried at the Broughton Hospital Cemetery, Morganton, Burke County, NC
I believe James Patterson Gregory was married to Sarah C. Beaver, daughter of Russell Cain Beaver and Ruth Elizabeth Anderson of Yancey County, NC.

I located Sarah C. in the 1900 U.S. Census in Middle Ford of Ivy, Madison County, NC.

She is enumerated with children Charles S., Julia A. and Sarah L.

Living in the household above is Harriett L. Griffin and children Troy E. and Elvy along with her mother, Martha A. Gregory.

Just below Sarah C. is Christopher Gregory enumerated with wife Mira E. and children Zora E., Nola E. and Zetta C.

Supporting documents are death certificates of Sarah C.'s children who list their father as Patterson Gregory and Sarah Beaver.

Thanks Linda

Benjamin F. WITT
Was wondering if you are related to Benjamin F. WITT? I saw where you have (memorial)flowers posted on his grave page. I have searched for years for his other siblings graves and have only been successful in finding Margaret's. Margaret is my g-grandmother. He has two more that are younger. Blossom is a sister and I haven't a name for his younger brother. Was wondering if you, or if you know of someone who could help me locate Blossom's grave or anything else pertaining to the Witt family?

Thank you,
Greg Adams
